Pet care experience
I grew up on a farm and have tons of animal care experience. I've always had dogs in my life, including my current companion Cixi, a 12 year old Chinese Crested with a very sweet temperament who loves hanging out with other dogs. My husband and I work from home - a spacious mid-Century house in Silver Spring's Kemp Mill neighborhood- which gives us the flexibility to keep your dog on whatever routine he/she is accustomed to in order to ensure his/her comfort. In addition to my dog I have a friendly little cat named Dahlia who gets along well with everyone. I also have an almost 3-year old daughter who has always lived with pets so she knows how to interact gently with animals and when to let them be. ****Drop-off/Pick-Up Policy**** In order to manage overlap between multiple incoming/outgoing clients I operate on a noon to noon schedule. Clients are encouraged to drop dog(s) off any time after 12PM on the start date of their stay. Early drop-off is available for an additional fee of $10 if dropping off between 9AM-12PM or $20 if dropping off before 9AM. Pick-up follows a similar schedule - clients are encouraged to pick up their dogs any time before noon on the end date of their stay. A fee of $10 will be applied if picking up between 12PM-3PM, $20 for pick-ups between 3PM-6PM, and pick-ups later than 6PM will be charged the cost of the entire day.
Reviews
Absolutely perfect stay for our little Maltese Louie! We love Katherine! She is responsible, living, and caring.
My pup has joint issues with her back legs that can get painful at times and limit her mobility. Katherine was so sweet and mindful of that during our meet and greet and watched her for 5 days while I was out of town. I’m not sure how, but my dog came back in better shape than when I left her- less stiffness and pain in general. She had a wonderful vacation of her own with Katherine!
Katherine goes above and beyond! My cats are usually stressed out when we get back from a trip, but when we got back after Katherine watched them, they were calm and happy. She took the time to play with them and make them feel cared for — she brings a unique amount of energy and professionalism to the job.
nothing really new to add except that this was biscuit's longest stay with katherine and, as usual, she did a GREAT job

Our approach is to try to approximate the routine your dog is used to as best as possible, as we have found through experience that dogs tend to be most comfortable this way. We have a fenced-in dog-run area for exercise and potty breaks, and we also love to go on walks around the neighborhood when the weather permits. We can feed on your schedule. When not eating or playing outside your dog will enjoy lots of chill time and cuddling on the couch in the evenings. Dogs are always welcome to share the cal-king bed with us if they want to!

Information Katherine P. would like to know about your pet
In addition to any special care requirements, I'd like to know your dog's temperament, activity level, and how he/she gets along with cats and other dogs. I want to make your dog's stay as comfortable as possible so please let me know if he/she has any phobias of things like vacuum cleaners, loud noises, etc... or any food aversions or allergies. Please also let me know of any house rules your dog is accustomed to following so that I can maintain consistency and training while you are away.
A typical day
On a typical day we wake up around 7am and immediately go outside. Then we have breakfast and I check with work for a while. I try to take the dogs on a walk between 9-10am, weather permitting. Then its back to work for the rest of the day with outside breaks every 2-3 hours. In the evenings we are all together eating dinner and hanging out on the screened-in back porch. After we put our daughter to bed its just us and the dogs on the couch until bedtime.
