Reliable nurturing animal lover

Pet care experience

I love all animals! I grew up with dogs, cats, lizards, and have always had a soft side for all types of animals. I am a person who loves to walk, and loves tiring out energetic dogs! I pride myself on my punctuality, reliability, and compassion for all creatures. I have a pet cat named Sputnik. I used to have an adorable rabbit named Sweetpea that I had adopted. I grew up with a black lab mix named Harley, and a goofy corgi named Emilee. I would love to my own dog in a few years from now when it seems more financially feasible. The apartment I live in is quite large and has two floors, which would be helpful if my cat Sputnik and another pet I'd be caring for were not getting along, or at least as a way to separate the two until they are accustomed to each others scents to avoid any possibility of a negative altercation, depending upon the particular situation. I took care of the black lab mix I grew up with when he grew very old and had many health problems. Towards the end he could not control his bowel movements, had a hard time getting up and laying down, I helped clean up his messes, soothe him to keep him from feeling too ashamed, and tried to make it as easy as possible for him to get up and lay down. When my family got our pet Corgi as a puppy I did a great deal of potty training, I taught her to sit on command, and did this training with no use of physical harm. I have always considered caring for pets as somewhat analogous to caring for children, or the elderly. Everyone deserves to be treated with compassion and respect, including our furry or not so furry companions. Anxiety prone dogs: I work quite well with anxiety prone dogs, especially rescue dogs, and dogs that often are not fond of most people (chihuahuas who tend to not like most people seem to fall in love with me shortly after meeting me). I have had pet owners in the past be shocked at how their anxiety prone/typically stranger averse dogs respond to me and warm up to me very quickly. Why I love dog sitting I have loved animals, especially dogs, for all of my life. Even before my family had a dog, when I was under 6, I was close friends with a neighborhood German Shepard, named Dobin. He went on walks with my father and I through the woods to the pond behind our house. When my family moved, we acquired a black lab mix named Harley. I say acquired because the previous homeowners, who trained seeing eye dogs, were moving to the city, and Harley, who had failed the training, and loved the country, was offered to my family if we wanted him. We like to say he came with the house. Harley was a close friend to me growing up, we went on all sorts of walks and hikes, played tons of frisbee and fetch. He lived a long happy life, (18 years old!) towards the end we cared for him and comforted him. When the decision had to be made to relieve him of his pain, I went and gently stroked his mostly grey fur, until he was gone. I have loved all young and old dogs ever since! My experience administering medication I am very comfortable administering medication, so long as I have the proper instructions for doing so, and the owner's specific instructions. I have administered different types of medication to dogs, cats, and rabbits

She watched my cat for 2+ weeks. Pro: Did a good job with quality time and feedings. Con: The litter box was full and appeared unscooped for those 2 weeks.

Katherine was great with my fur babies! She hung out with them for hours, so they wouldn't be lonely!

Katherine was great taking care of Penny, our anxious 1/5yo pup. Katherine was great both before--meeting Penny and asking plenty of questions leading up to the stay--and during--providing daily updates and pictures. We fully recommend Katherine and plan to book with her in the future if possible.

Katherine was so great with our dog who can be leery of strangers and a challenge to walk. She took the time to help Vivi feel comfortable with her and Vivi seemed so happy on their walks under her good care. She also gave us good updates and was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend.

Information Katherine N. would like to know about your pet

I do not discriminate against any breeds, I love all dogs, big and small. I would like to know any information the owner would want me to know, the pet's preferences, where they like to go on walks, if the pet has any health concerns, how much time they typically spend unsupervised, etc.

A typical day

Time I'll spend with your dog I would plan on stopping in to see them at least twice a day. I would say a minimum of 4 hours per day, most likely I would spend more time than that, and I am of course happy to abide by any owners preferences. Young and old dogs I would definitely spend more time with, I really am happy to be flexible, as long as the pet and owner are happy, I will be happy! I love going on walks, exploring parks, and running, all of which would be even more fun with the company of a dog! Tug o' war is always a fun game to play with dogs, as well as fetch (or just throwing the ball and picking it up wherever it is dropped haha), I love giving lots of pats and hugs/snuggles if the dog enjoys snuggles. Extra house-sitting services But of course! I am happy to perform any additional tasks the owner would like.
