Pet care experience
Sensitive to the needs of pets of various ages and sizes, and very conscientious about caring for senior animals. I cared for a cat affected by cancer, who went on to live a few more years. I have also administered insulin several times a day over months, to a senior cat. I managed my dog’s kidney disease for the last 5 years of his life, and through these experiences, really treasured the richness and moment to moment presence that older animals bring to our lives. I have lived with many cats and one very long-lived dog that recently passed at the age of 17, and I have a lot of love for our four-legged family members. I work from home, and during the day I really enjoy frequent breaks away from the desk, walking and taking in the sights and sounds, and this is one of the activities I most look forward to when meeting your buddy... rain, snow or shine! Your dog loves walks? Awesome, we will get along great! Thanks, I look forward to meeting you!

Katherine is amazing with my dog Soju. When you first met her you can already tell how caring and meticulous she is. Soju can be skittish and shy but had no problem warming up to her at all. We’re lucky to have found her!
Katherine was very quick to respond to our last minute drop in request. She was extremely flexible, and on meeting her, very professional and warm hearted. I knew from the moment I met her that our cat Bubbles would be in good hands. I would highly recommend Katherine to anyone looking for a special someone to take care of their pets. I will most definitely be using Katherine again!
Katherine has exceptional communication skills! This woman is on the ball! She goes beyond what is requested offering helpful suggestions and the benefit of her own experience. She is most respectful, however—leaving all decisions up to the owner. Charlie is a geriatric cat, and I feel very confident with Katherine at the helm of assisting his needs.
This was our first time using Rover & we were initially nervous leaving our little guy with someone we didn't know - but Katherine was excellent & you could really tell she cared about our dog the entire time. She responded to our request for dog-sitting immediately, we met for a quick initial visit & we could tell she would be a great host. She was very attentive, followed any care requests we had & took him for regular walks (in the snow & rain). She sent us regular puppy updates (PupDates) with pictures - which we really appreciated & looked forward to getting them each day. We would be happy to have Katherine look after our little guy anytime in the future. Thank you again.

Information Katherine L. would like to know about your pet
If this is your first time booking with me, I will arrange a meet and greet before confirming. During that initial meeting, we'll be able to discuss care needs and schedules. This initial meeting is for both of us to get to know one another, meet your pets, and assess the suitability of the service. Once the request is confirmed, for extended drop-in visits outside of my zone: I will drive to your location, and the cost of fuel and any parking during the visit will be added to the total invoice for the service. The cost for fuel will be calculated each way, and the parking cost is per visit. In general, please let me know if your pet has any fears, reactivity and preferences, where he or she loves to go, and what their favourite activities are. For dogs boarding at my home, I’ll ask about schedule, portion sizes, allergies, regular habits and any medications.
A typical day
While in North Burnaby, I've enjoyed walking over to Squint Lake Park and up the trails of Burnaby Mountain. Local leafy neighbourhoods and parks nearby are all part of a fun-smelling, fresh air, stimulating experience. I used to play baseball, so dogs that love a game of fetch or frisbee will be kept entertained and busy! I also have a great compassion for senior dogs and their needs too as they slow down. Working from home means I can provide plenty of lounging and cuddling time too, if they are so inclined. For drop-in visits with regular clients who are older or have accessibility needs, I can also pick up supplies — food, litter, medications — and bring these along to the scheduled visit.
