Pet care experience
Hey there. My name is Katie. Aside from growing up with pets, I worked in a family owned pet store for 3 years during my late teens/early 20’s. For the past 6 years outside of running my own fitness & online businesses I’ve found great joy in dog sitting. I have met some wonderful people and pets along the way. My main option on here is dog walking but I also do drop-ins and house sitting. Both fitness and pets are work that I love, and am passionate about. I decided to join Rover to connect with more dog parents, so I can combine my daily exercise (some extra steps) & dogs.
Reviews
Amazing as always!
Katherine was great. Would definitely use her services again!
First time user of Rover. We have been having Katherine come by for a couple of weeks and she is awesome. Very thorough, and dependable. I feel very comfortable having her take care of our puppy and know Copper loves it.
Katherine is an amazing dog walker!! She cares so much for my pup. We are sadly moving away and she will be greatly missed!

Safety, trust & environment
I have a bird myself (from when I worked at the petsore), he is now 18 years old and has officially been with me more of my life than not. He is a small conure/parrot. I grew up with cats, and a Guinea pig. After getting to work at the pet store, and doing every job there was there, I discovered how much value pets can add to our lives, and I love all animals! I do find a special connection to dogs. After working with my personal training clients in home and getting to play with their pups, they would ask me to take care of them while away. Recalling my skills developed from my time at the pet store, and my background with health and wellness safety (physical/emotional) is my number one concern. I like to pet sit animals in their environment, as it is safest and less stressful for them. My concern and care is always to think of what is best for the animals and owners alike.
Information Katherine L. would like to know about your pet
All the basics as well as anything else you think I should know or I might like to know about your dog(s). These include: vet name/number, eating schedule/free eating, food allergies/sensitivities, favorite/allowed treats, training and commands, energy levels, good with other dogs/kids, preferred sleeping arrangements, how your pup likes to be picked up or held, any health conditions or quirks like licking or chewing, any known stress triggers like thunderstorms and anything else you can think of. For kitties I’d like to know all the basics including: vet, meds, food, etc. Any personality traits or quirks - are they little Houdinis, do they enjoy play time or more the secretive type who like to hide, do they like to be pet, etc. Are they allowed outside, if so, what do their habits around outdoor time look like.
A typical day
All breeds require varying levels of physical and mental stimulation, and I love discovering each one’s unique needs. I’ll often take advantage of the many beautiful parks and trails throughout NOVA & into DC, but more than happy to bring your pup to their favorite spots. I’m open to exploring dog parks, or play dates if your dog is a “dog” dog.
