I can't wait to meet your pup! :)

Pet care experience

HI! My name's Katherine and I have been a dog devotee since I was a little girl. I currently own an adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and am hopping to rescue a pitbull puppy very soon! I'm a graduate student, finishing up my PhD in English literature; I dog walk to make a little extra income, give myself a break from writing, and, of course, because dogs are awesome. I'm comfortable with any kind of dog--anxious dogs, chill dogs, little dogs, big dogs, dogs who want to run down the street, and dogs who don't want to get off the couch. I love just getting outside for a mid-day break with your pup, be it a leisurely stroll with a friendly Pomeranian or a run with a big Boxer who needs to burn off some extra energy. I'm also happy to discuss house sitting options. I'm caring, conscientious, and responsible and am happy to provide references upon request! .

I am sad to say we had a terrible experience. Based on the other positive reviews and the good vibe we got during the meet and greet I am so flabbergasted by how poorly this was for us. I do not enjoy writing negative reviews and certainly not wordy ones but, in this case, given that other concerned pet owners may be reading this I feel compelled to share the following. This was our 1st time using Katherine for dog sitting in our home, what started out as positive during the day, turned sour come night fall. After arriving at our home to start the dog sitting she informed us that she needed to leave to get her sister at the airport at 9pm but would be sure to let us know when she returned. Shame on me for not asking for an eta. I wasn't super happy that she was leaving our dogs that late at night since they are pretty anxious pups and they typically go to bed at 9ish but whatever. I assumed it would be a short absence. And I was a little surprised she didn't share that with me when I booked this weeks ago, especially given how long and how late this was going to take her away from our home as we came to learn later. We were about an hour away at a family wedding, received updates and pics, quick responses from Katherine throughout this 1st day which was great. She had let me know that she was leaving to walk other dogs but would be back in 1.5 hours. She did which was great. But after messaging me that she was leaving at 9pm, she went dark for almost 3 hours. Despite numerous attempts to contact her via the app, personal cell, call/text. Nothing. My husband and I were so freaked out that maybe something happened to her since she was not returning our calls. We didn't feel like we could sleep knowing that there was a chance she wasn't going to return and that the dogs were not getting cared for, we made the decision to leave our hotel drive the hour home at midnight. It wasn't until we were more than halfway home that she messaged saying she was back at our place and "all good". No acknowledgment of the messages of concern I sent, multiple missed calls, etc. I had to beg her to call me back so we could find a resolution. Unfortunately, her response made me so uncomfortable that we asked her to leave that night, which she did before we arrived. She made a bunch of excuses for why she didn't see my messages or get my calls, and blatantly said she didn't think she did anything wrong here. Had she shown that she was sympathetic to the fact that we were concerned for our dogs' wellbeing and that it made sense that she should have been more communicative through this, it would have gone a long way. When we returned home at almost 1AM we found our house left unkempt and her personal affects still left behind (toiletries, clothing, food, etc). She left wet pool towels on our wooden doors, dishes in the sink, milk in a mug on our fireplace mantel. It was clear that she had made herself right at home and didn't feel the need to return it to its original state. We care so much for out dogs and think our standard for house sitting is pretty standard. We are paying for our dogs to be cared for in our home. They are the priority for the time being and it was clear that this was not the case. Since we now had no sitter we had to get family to step in last minute to help us so we could be a part of the wedding day. It was extremely stressful. Rover reached out, unsolicited, and apologized for what experienced and offered a refund. They must have seen the communication come through the app and were sympathetic to how awful this was for us.

Katherine is amazing and immediately took to our 3 dogs. They all loved her from the moment she walked in the door. She is super friendly and very responsible and caring. My dogs had a great time and got lots of exercise playing with her. Thanks Katherine!! We are all so happy to have met you and will definitely book you again :)

We left Katherine for 10 days with a brand new puppy (not yet house trained) and 2 cats. To say she did a great job would not even be giving her enough credit. After seeing all Katherine’s 5 star reviews I figured I had to reach out to her.

Information Katherine K. would like to know about your pet

I'd ask questions about temperament, procedures (feeding, harnessing, bathroom, etc.). I'd also want to know about any possible triggers the dog may have and commands he or she knows.

A typical day

We'll stay in the client's immediate neighborhood. Generally, I try to head towards some kind of park or greenspace on a route that avoids busy or dangerous roads as much as possible. Trails and wooded areas are always pretty to walk through and give the puppers lots of great stuff to sniff and explore.
