Pet care experience

*****NOTICE: DUE TO ROVER DISMISSING THE GRAVITY OF DAMAGE DONE TO MULTIPLE PARTIES (MYSELF, MY FAMILY, POTENTIAL USERS OF THE COMPANY, CURRENT PET OWNERS, ETC.), WHEN ROVER ALLOWED PUBLICATION OF THE MOST RECENT REVIEW I RECEIVED (CONTAINING COUNTLESS FALSE CLAIMS, ACCUSATIONS, AND HORRIFYING STATEMENTS THAT TRULY WENT BEYOND DEFAMATION AND LIBEL), I NO LONGER BELIEVE THAT I CAN TRUST ROVER AS A SITTER, OWNER, HUMAN BEING...I AM TERMINATING MY ACCOUNT PERMANENTLY. LUCKILY, I HAVE AN AMAZING NUMBER OF REPEAT CLIENTS WHO ARE APPALLED BY ROVER ALLOWING THE REVIEW BECAUSE I AM BLESSED WITH CLIENTS WHO LEGITIMATELY ARE MUCH HAPPIER NO LONGER USING ROVER, KNOWING THAT I HAVE NEVER AND WOULD NEVER DO ANYTHING EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT WAS SAID IN THE REVIEW. I AM USING THIS AS NOTICE FOR ANY CLIENTS WHO HAVE NOT SEEN THE REVIEW, MY REPLY, AND WHO HAVE NOT CONTACTED ME DIRECTLY ABOUT HOW TO MOVE FORWARD - BECAUSE I TRUST THAT THE RIGHT CLIENTS WILL CONTINUE WITH ME (THOUGH I AM ALSO ENCOURAGING THEM TO AT LEAST USE THE PLATFORM IF THEY WISH TO DO SO FOR BACK UP SITTERS). OUTSIDE OF ROVER, I STILL ALWAYS SEND VIDEOS, PHOTOS, UPDATES, AND COMPLETE ALL SERVICES WITH THE SAME INCLUSIONS AS I HAVE LISTED WHERE I DESCRIBE CARE. LASTLY, I HAVE A COMPLETE PORTFOLIO ASSEMBLED THAT INCLUDES EVERY BIT OF INFORMATION, REVIEWS, AND PHOTOS THAT ARE ON MY ROVER PROFILE, AS WELL AS LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION FROM CLIENTS THAT CAN BE SLIGHTLY MORE INFORMATIVE THAN JUST THE REVIEW(S) LEFT. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS, AND I ADDITIONALLY HAVE A DOCUMENT CONTAINING THE EMAILS EXCHANGED WITH ROVER SUPPORT PERTAINING TO THIS IF NEEDED BY ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF SPECIFICALLY WHAT "SUPPORT" ENTAILED.***** After begging my parents for a year or two, I was lucky when I found out that my neighbor’s dog was pregnant, and at age 5, I saw seven puppies born and chose the runt to be my family's first dog. We named him Rico and I began my education and experience with dogs. I spent my summers completing EVERY available class at BOTH The Humane Society of Missouri, as well as the St. Louis Zoo. By age 12, I'd completed all courses, and I was also going through training classes with my family and Rico (we started him when he hit 5 months old, and three summers later, Rico completed Puppy Training and Socialization, Basic Obedience, Intermediate, and Advanced classes and was 4 years old). I worked with Rico continuously on further training and we taught each other a lot. I have worked with Stray Rescue and with The Humane Society of Missouri, and now I spend my time and effort on helping other people and most importantly, their pets in whatever ways I can do so. MY EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW: I have NOW cared for, trained, and/or worked with the following: Dogs, Cats, Birds, Rodents, Horses, Reptiles, Fish, etc., and my experience spans all sizes, ages, breeds/specific types, genders/sexes, AND the physical and mental handicaps and/or illnesses of the aforementioned animals. ***ALL IN ALL, I absolutely LOVE animals, and I truly value the time I spend with them, the things we teach EACH OTHER, AND the trust that my clients have toward me (which I try to build/earn quickly and grow until it isn't even a fleeting concern when they need to call upon me for help). <3 Pets in my care are guaranteed to be loved, safe, secure, respected, and to receive one-on-one attention.*** *****NOTE: I almost always attend the meet and greets with my Husband. He is present for two main reasons, which are, A) MY safety when visiting an unknown house with strangers present, and B) YOUR chance to meet (and have your pet(s) meet) MY emergency contact - Rover has his information on file within my information in case I were severely injured, could not be reached, etc. - BUT I also think that it is important to make sure that YOU and I have a "backup" who is more than just "on my file". His name is Peter, he is my age, and he was also the "dog owner" of his household (with a much larger breed) as he grew up. He and I have been, and continue to, learn from each other and we have the same rules, boundaries, and practices when it comes to pet care. He works somewhat Freelance also (as a General Contractor and Landscaper) so that does help us feel secure in case of any emergencies. ***** P.S. He is mentioned in several reviews by my clients so you can see that my rating is a reflection of him also. Feel free to ask me anything else you would like to know! *****ADDITIONAL SERVICES: - DOG TRAINING - PET PHOTOGRAPHY This job is currently, and has been for about 6 years now, my main job - 24/7. If I am doing a Sitting, I spend nights (and most of my days) at the location of the Sitting. I DO tend to need to leave for brief periods during the day to do things like run errands, or I may have a Drop-In Visit with a Cat, etc., but I am also intent on keeping things as close to routines already in place as possible for Pets. When I Sit, I take care of pets in the same ways in which they are given care by owners (sometimes I may spoil them a little extra, but I also have personal lines for that and do not indulge any behaviors that are undesirable - jumping up, nipping, barking, begging, etc.), though I DO NOT use any type of Choke Collar OR Electric Shock Collar. I will PROPERLY use Prong Collars if owners do use those, and that is for larger and stronger dogs to protect myself and them on Walks. Ideally, I use basic Collars and I encourage Harness use. I follow owner instructions regarding food, water, potty breaks/walks, etc., but I also do not generally feel comfortable with off-leash time outdoors. I offer to water any Plants Indoor and/or Outdoor, as well as bring in Mail and Packages. If there are commands in use, I follow using them, and if I need to administer Medication, I need basic information to follow what is normally done for that. I also keep any rules regarding pets on furniture and in beds in place. I love to play with pets and snuggle if they want, and I send absurd amounts of photos during most stays.

To say we were disappointed with Katie is an understatement. Based on her profile and what she told us, she would be at our house with our dogs and cat “the majority of the time”. We NEVER expected her to stay 24/7, but she made it clear she would be there a lot. We hired her for a 10 day stay. Out of those 10 days, she stayed the night 2 times. Her boyfriend would come over and he stayed the other 8 nights alone. In addition, no one was there during the day with the dogs. On a few of the days, Peter would go in the middle of the day, be there for 15 minutes and then leave again. We never made an agreement that we would be ok with Peter being the only person there, since he is not a Rover sitter. Because of her not being there, our dogs also did not receive their medication as needed. When confronted on why she was not at our house, she said a family friend was in the hospital and needed to be there instead. We thought that was bad enough, but then we came home to a disaster in our house. There was dog pee on multiple rugs and on our living room ottoman (which is now stained). Our dogs were alone so long they went in the house, which they don’t do. We also came home to dog food in our stove, plastic baggies on top of the gas stove, stuff thrown all over the counter, and dirty dishes in the sink. One of the cups was caked with chocolate or something and we had to just throw it away. They also left the bedroom a mess with the sheets hanging off the bed on the floor. The worst was the human feces in both toilets. We did inform Rover and provided them with the camera footage of when she would actually show up. Rover was fantastic at doing the investigation and staying in contact with me about it. I would never recommend Katie and will never hire her again.

Katherine was amazing with my pets. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. She stayed at the house while I was out of town. She was great at showing them attention, which kept them calm and engaged them in play. I got daily pictures and videos and they really seemed to enjoy having her around - even one of our dogs that barks at visitors in our house. She warmed to Katherine right away and enjoyed her belly rubs on the couch. I'm grateful to have found someone that cares for my pets as much as I do.

Always happy with Katherine & Peter watching our dogs. They provide lots of photos and updates which makes it so much easier not to worry. They also make sure not to leave any type of mess behind and even take the garbage out so we gone come back to something smelly. We are so glad to have them to watch our girls and will continue to use them in the future.

Information Katherine A. would like to know about your pet

Before Sittings, I Do at least one Meet and Greet, at which time I either bring a paper copy and/or send an email attachment of my "Comprehensive Pet Questionnaire", which is for you to fill out and then leave wherever you'd like for me to find when I begin the stay. I don't reject any breeds. I love all sizes, shapes, colors, etc. I DO have a love of OVERLY Large Pets, Incredibly Small Pets, and my Husband likes pets with "Floppy Faces".

A typical day

We take walks around the neighborhood, take trips to parks, have playtime in the house and/or in the yard. *I like to know if pets enjoy certain play more than others, like Fetch or Tug-of-War, Laser Pointers or Teaser Toys, etc.* I tend to do massages after intense physical activities, and I use positive methods to reinforce training for mental stimulation...the FUN way!
