I work from home daily running a small handmade crafts and embroidery business. Most if not all activities involve furchildren, whether it’s my or others' babies! You can usually find us going on walks in the neighborhood or around Sloan's Lake, cuddling on the couch, going on hikes, or adventuring near and far. Caring for your furry ones is easy for me as I'm my own boss and have the option to either take my work with me or leave it at home at your discretion - your fur-angels are my #1 priority.

Safety, trust & environment

It’s hard enough on you and your furbabies when you have to leave them, whether it's for work, travel, or something else. I aim to mirror how you care for your babies and lessen the burden of your day-to-day demands. I am a huge advocate of furry ones staying in their own home as that familiar setting encourages them to feel safe/less anxious - plus, it’s nice to know someone trustworthy is watching over your home as well (e.g., I'll bring in your mail, turn lights on/off, empty trash, whatever else looks like it may need fixin!). In my own home, everyone is allowed on the furniture and sleeps in bed with me but I respect others’ house rules and will be sure to ask up front! Above all, I do everything I can to help our "earth angels" feel as safe, loved, healthy, and happy as paw-ssible in your absence.

Information Katharine M. would like to know about your pet

I prefer to meet each dog in person ahead of time, with the exception of same-day bookings as long as everyone's cool with it. This way, I'm a familiar face/smell and they feel comfortable around me (no stranger danger vibes here!). In addition to the basics (feeding schedule/amount, medical conditions/allergies, medication(s), schedule, vet and emergency contact info, etc.), I'd love to get the lowdown on their likes and dislikes: for example, do they like to be pet/snuggled? Picked up/carried or left to cruise on their own? Sweet scratch spots? Tummy rubs? Favorite treats and/or toys? Aggression towards or dislike of other cats, dogs, kiddos, humans? Also, if there are any house rules or requests (e.g., no shoes, being extra alert for escape artists, etc.) - I usually bring in mail/packages, turn lights on/off, take out trash, etc. unless you prefer I leave these as-is. My sweet late pup developed pancreatitis and diabetes late in his life and I’m very comfortable with GI issues, administering medications (pills, insulin injections, etc.), as well as looking for signs of dysregulated blood sugar. If your babies have any medical conditions I will ask you what their “normal” is so I can monitor them for any deviation from the norm. Anything I can do to make their, and your, experience the best possible is my go-to approach. I have no breed preferences, I love them all as if they were my own!

A typical day

The time I spend with your furry ones and what we do during that time depends on both their and your preferences. For our couch potatoes and/or super seniors who just want to loaf around all day, I'll queue up their favorite show/movie and we'll snuggle up together, or when the weather is nice, we'll sunbathe (perhaps with a little picnic!) in your backyard or at Sloan's Lake. For our introverts who don't like that much human interaction, I'll be a fly on the wall but physically within reach. For our earth angels with separation anxiety or who are just shy/nervous nellies, I'll be stuck to them like glue and we'll get plenty of snuggles and exercise/nature time to calm those nerves - when it's time to leave, and depending on what they love most, I'll put on some calming music or their favorite TV show, and/or offer an interactive puzzle toy for a little mental distraction. For our Olympian athletes bouncing with energy, extended walks, playing with their favorite toy(s), and perhaps even an extra hike will be on the menu. Whatever we do will be arranged in consultation with you - I tailor my services to your expectations and their ultimate comfort and happiness!

Pet care experience

If you're anything like me, you expect the best for your furbabies and will do just about anything for them. You know, "accidentally" dropping your priceless spoonful of Ben and Jerry's into their food bowl, that moment when you need to adjust your sleeping position but endure the pain because your pet is asleep on you...we all want the best for our dogs, and when we're away, we're constantly worrying about them. I know this feeling all too well, I have four furry ones myself and have grown up with dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes my entire life. I was raised to respect and love my pets as they are family; protecting and loving us unconditionally, no matter what. I treat all animals (aka earth angels!) as if they were my own, with lots of love, attention, and playtime!

Katharine was fabulous with both of our large dogs. She was immediately comfortable with them and they with her. We did not worry one bit while we were gone, especially with the cute pictures she sent us via text to let us know all was well. :) She is very conscientious and asked all the right questions before our departure. Our dogs were probably better cared for by her than by us! We will definitely contact her the next time we travel. Thanks, Katharine!

Meeting Katharine was absolutely the best...in more ways than she may realize. Katharine is not only the most caring and loving person to her friends, but with all animals that I have personally witnessed. Because of her extreme consideration and loving nature, my husband and I were thrilled when Katharine wanted to watch our baby. The entire time I had no worries about the care of our Puggle. She even sent pics of him to us while we were away. Houser and I would highly recommend Katharine to watch any pets- hopefully she can just juggle everyone else since she is definitely Houser's sitter. He misses her already!!!
