Responsible, Attentive, Dog-Lover!
Pet care experience
Responsible, attentive, dog- lover :) I spent 6 years living with roommates who had dogs, and was always eager to be the one to take them on their daily walks and care for them. Growing up, I wasn't allowed to have a dog, so now I'm that girl on the street who talks to dogs like they're humans, and loves them more than most people. People see their dogs as their children, and I will treat them as such. I can't wait to meet your pup!
Reviews
I am so thankful for Katharine’s help. When I drop Lennon off, she is so happy to see Katharine and runs right in to go upstairs. My mind is at ease, she has my full trust and confidence. Thank you!
Katharine B. cancelled a booking 1 day before it was scheduled to begin.
Katharine was wonderful with Charlie, and I felt great leaving him with her. She sent regular updates and was able to coax him into a short walk to do his business even though it was extremely hot out. I would absolutely use Katharine to watch Charlie again!
Katherine was great with Remmy! She let us come over for an introduction beforehand and was attentive to all his needs. I was glad to hear they went for lots of walks! I would definitely book again!

I live in a quiet area of Dupont Circle, in a quiet condo building. There are two other dogs on our floor, which are both under 25lbs, as required by the condo association rules. If your dog benefits from being crated at any point in their day for additional comfort, I have experience with crating (and crate training!) and will be sure to follow your instructions as to what your dog needs to feel at-home. We have a balcony attached to our unit, which your dog would be welcome to enjoy with us. Your dog will be welcome in any room of the unit, and on any furniture it finds comfortable, unless you tell me otherwise :) Having lived with dogs in the past, I am very attuned to making sure food is out of reach, doors are not left open, and prompt baths are given if they find something dead to roll in.

Information Katharine B. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know of any special needs your dog has, as well as any personality traits I should be aware of (for example, whether they are reactive to other dogs we might encounter on our walks, they like to chew things, they have a habit of peeing when excited, etc.). Please also let me know where they generally like to sleep, and what time they are used to eating.
A typical day
On a typical week day, my routine would be to take the dog out 4 different times: between 8am-9am, between 1-2pm, between 4-6pm, and between 10-11pm. Each walk would be 15-30 minutes as a baseline, with one of the 4 being a longer, more robust exercise time of closer to 45 minutes, depending on whether your dog is more active in the morning or the evening. I live near several parks where I can take your dog for a run or longer walk, as well as several enclosed dog parks if you'd like them to get some socialization. The weekends are essentially the same schedule, except that I may be out of the house for 2-3 hours to go to the grocery store or go get a meal. If there are any weekend activities that are dog-friendly, I will be thrilled to bring your pup along!

Availability
I currently work from home 4 days out of the work week, and my partner works from home 2 days. I leave the house 3 times a day to walk around the neighborhood and stretch my legs, and live near several parks where I could spend that walk with your dog! At the end of the work day, I try to fit in a longer period of exercise, which means an outdoor run if the weather is nice enough. Let me know if your dog likes to go on runs, too!
