Compassionate Mama 🐕

Pet care experience

In a nut-shell: I am a stay at home mom. I have an almost 3 year old son and 3 bull-terriers. We bred our 2 bull terriers. The female had a singleton litter so we had to keep her! Rhea joined our pack 2 months ago and she's a handful! It's like a baby all over again. All 4 of them love to run around and play and make friends. We love going on walks when the weather is nice. I decided to start working for Rover again since I have a lot of free time. My husband works overnights, so don't worry- the baby will not be coming with me to check in on your pets. Your pet will have my undivided attention. We are a dog loving family and hope to start a kennel in the near future. Extended Profile: I am a mother of a 1 year old boy, and 2 bull-terriers ("the Target dog"). Anyone that knows me knows how much I love my family; dogs are family too! I treat every dog that enters my home with equal respect. As a protective mother I know how important it is to choose the right sitter (for your babies & fur-babies). I send pictures periodically during the stay to show you how much fun they are having. I have experience with dogs of all ages. I can keep up with the energy of a small puppy and also nap with the elderly dogs. I have no problem helping potty train your pup. I am very patient. I even have extra pee pads, poop bags and reward treats. I have experience with medications both oral and injection. With that being said, I have experience watching dogs with diabetes (insulin injections) and other health issues such as GERD in cats & dogs (oral liquid or tablet medications). I keep my home clean. Having a puppy AND toddler I know how important it is to not have anything within their reach. I never have to wonder what's in their mouth! I have plenty of space in and outside my home for the dogs to play and get their exercise. I take them out on frequent walks. Typically, we go out every couple of hours. Please let me know if there are any bathroom cues your dog may have. What do they do when it's time to go? Are there any phrases that make them know "it's okay, go potty?" My large backyard is fenced in. My son has been around dogs his entire life. He LOVES his puppy siblings. Of course I'm cautious with him around new dogs. He will be separated from the guest-dogs. Please let me know how your dog is around children. I like to only have 1 client at a time. Multiple dogs from the same family or friends are considered. Please let me know ahead of time how your dog plays with others. I have 2 crates (1 large, 1 medium) if needed. I have gated areas in my home as well. I offer bathing if you'd like to add it on to your pups stay. Bring your own soap or use ours. I'll send your pup home squeaky clean. I don't mind picking up or dropping off your dog(s) if needed. I charge $10 round-trip unless it is under a 10 minute drive. Please let me know how your dog is in a vehicle. I like to bring the dogs to parks if allowed by the owner and if the weather cooperates. Dog Boarding is typically drop off after 5pm. Pick-up before noon. Of course there are exceptions. I may have to charge for an additional daycare if you plan on picking your pooch up after noon. It is not fair to the other dogs that need daycare. If I have to decline a daycare stay due to your dog still in my care, I will have to charge you for daycare. This will be established and agreed upon before booking the stay so there wont be any surprises. Unless of course you unexpectedly have to extend your stay. I am flexible for the most part and can usually accommodate. Forgot to pack something for your dog? Was your flight cancelled and you didn't pack enough food? No worries, I usually don't mind going out and buying the items as long as I am reimbursed. I understand life happens. I went out at 11:30pm to buy rice and eggs to cook for someone's dog who didn't want to eat. If that's not love.... =)

Katelyn was terrific! She did a thorough job with drop-in visits for my two cats. This included filling their bowls with dry food, giving tuna to one of the cats, cleaning several litter boxes and cleaning up accidents that one of the cats had. She also brought in a couple packages. I returned home to find my cats very happy!

Rudy had a wonderful week with Katelyn! She was a fantastic care provider and professional. Katelyn proactively communicated before and during the stay, and clearly cared about Rudy's needs.

Katelyn was awesome - taking on a drop in visit for my two dogs AND my friend's dog at my friend's house while we were away unexpectedly. Katelyn was thorough in her communications before and during the stay, and very prompt and professional. She updated as soon as she'd completed the visit - which we really appreciated. I'd definitely use Katelyn again and in fact may do so for a weekend trip in October!

I would treat your pet like they were one of ours. I keep you and your dogs feelings and needs in mind. I recently stopped by my sister in laws house on an hours notice to give her dog his medicine. I stopped at the vet to pick them up on the way over. Before leaving I noticed the t.v. was paused on "are you still watching?" Screen so I found hours of doggy relaxation music on YouTube for him to continue listening to. It's the little things! And I'm sure she was laughing at my conversation with the pup the entire time. I treat everyone (humans, animals) all with the same respect and dignity I'd want others to treat me with.

I do not have a preference on breeds. All are welcome. The only thing I ask is that your dog gets along well with other dogs IF they will be staying in my home. Does your dog have any allergies? Any specific diet? How many times a day do they eat? Does your dog have any bathroom cues? Will they tell me when they have to go outside? Is there a word you use to make them go potty? Let me know of any medications or preexisting conditions. I will be more than happy to accommodate. I have years of experience caring for humans and dogs. I am familiar with first aid and CPR on dogs and humans. I have experience injecting dogs as well as oral administration. Let me know ahead of time if there are any behavioral issues. For example, does your dog steal food off of the counters? ;) let me know so I can prepare for the stay. *My boyfriend and I live together. Although I am the main caretaker, there may be times that Ryan will be helping out. Please let me know if your dog is okay around men and if there are any accommodations I may need to make (ex: I have to walk the dog, not him). *Another important thing to know if that I do not feel comfortable letting your dog(s) off leash. I don't care if they are "the best dogs off leash, very well behaved, great listeners." I noticed over the years of dog sitting that dogs are different when they are not with their owners and when they are in new environments. The dog that is a "great listener" could possibly not respond to any of my commands because they are anxious. They may be "great off leash" for the owner, but may attempt to escape for me because they are trying to find their home. Especially on long stays, dogs may start to think that their owners abandoned them and they want to find their way back home. We like to keep the dogs happy and distracted with lots of love, cuddles and playtime :)

A typical day

Fun activities; fetch in my backyard. Dog parks, walks in the neighborhood. It depends on the type of visit and length of the stay. My dogs Thor, Athena & Rhea love to play! Thor is 3 years old, Athena is 2 year old. Rhea is 3 months old! Thor is submissive and relaxed. Athena is full of energy or sound asleep.. there isn't much in-between with her. If your dog loves to play with other dogs they will get along nicely. Rhea is still a new puppy and has lots to learn! We also loves naps. If your dog loves naps they are welcome to take one wherever they please. However, if you do not allow your dog on furniture I will honor that in my home. We have crates if your dog prefers to sleep in a crate. Training should be consistent. If there are any problems you are working on please let me know. I set aside atleast 30 minutes a day to work on training our newest puppy. Our guests love to join in on our training sessions whether they are 9 months or 9 years.
