Active, Outdoor Lover & reliable

Pet care experience

I’m Kate, I am 27 years old and grew up in Rye NY. Like many others during the pandemic I recently moved out of the city back home. I am a big runner, hiker and skier! Pre-Covid: I lived in East Village but spend a lot of time out in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with family who have 3 dogs that I often walk, watch and take care of during the day. I grew up with a golden retriever and have been a dog lover ever since. Currently: I am living in Rye Brook, NY and had fostered two dogs throughout Covid. One of which was a husky mix under 1 year old and was adopted pretty quickly. The other we fell in love with and adopted ourselves (his name is bernard)! Since adopting we have prioritized socializing and keeping him stimulated and active!

Kate Walter has been caring and training our 90lb rescue who is a Red Swiss Mountain Dog. She is excellent with Bernard, loving, focused and Bernard is very responsive to her direction. He listens better to Kate than to us, he respects her and loves her. She does fun walks with Bernard, takes him to the dog park and makes sure he gets good exercise. We love having Kate help us with Bernard.

Information Kate W. would like to know about your pet

Important for me to know what kind of walks the dogs need (shorter/longer) and how they walk (do they pull on leash, are they easily distracted). Are they friendly with other dogs on/off leash or should we avoid. I’m comfortable with all of the above, just will help me navigate what they best place to walk will be!

A typical day

I love to take dogs that are ready and able to go off leash (once I can access) to Rye Beach Park or the Beach itself if the owners are willing to let the dog run in the sand. I find this is very stimulating and helps with socialization. I also frequent Abendroth Park which is in Port Chester, this is a large enclosed park with lots of dogs that are so friendly and familiar. From time to time I also like longer walks at Rye Golf Club (season permitting), Saxon Woods and Bear Mountain
