I currently have three small dogs, and I have been a foster for a dog rescue. Fostering has given me experience with all sizes and breeds of dogs. As a foster mom, I have whelped a litter and bottle fed puppies, as well as caring for senior dogs with diabetes and everything in between. My dogs love meeting new friends and my kids enjoy having new playmates. My children have had dogs their entire lives and know how to respect animals and their space. I have experience with administering medication to dogs. I had a senior diabetic foster for several months and I tested her blood sugar several times a day and gave her Vetsulin. Several years ago, one of my dogs had kidney disease and I gave him fluids daily through an IV. I also had a blind dog for almost 5 years (he went blind from a genetic issue and lived a great life even after he went blind). I have fostered over 20 puppies in the last couple years, including one litter who was born at my home and I bottle fed. My home is pretty much dog and kid proof - we removed all of the carpet long ago to make any clean up for puppies much easier! Two of my dogs sleep in crates and the third on my bed. We have sat/fostered for dogs that prefer both and we have a spare room to sleep in case dogs prefer to sleep with a human in a bed but not with my dog.
