Hello, and thank you for visiting our profile! Kate has been petsitting with Rover since 2017, and has been an animal lover all her life. She began working in shelters as a high school student, continuing throughout college, and has volunteered at emergency shelters for dogs coming from puppy mills and assisted in socialization, medical care, and training of dogs with backgrounds of trauma and abuse. Her shelter and personal experience has allowed a considerable amount of exposure to dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments. She is also able to administer oral medication and attend to dogs with special needs. As Kate's partner of over 6 years, Walker has had the pleasure of taking on private pet-sitting clients with her, and as a result has extended his knowledge about both dogs and cats, although, he too, grew up with animals. He has enjoyed it so much, that he decided to become an official sitter with Rover. By joining forces, we can ensure that your animal gets as much attention as possible, and our combined skills will best serve your pet (for instance, Kate knows how to give doggie massages to anxious pups and Walker can run with dogs that require more activity). Dependent on our work and school schedules (Kate is currently a full-time doctoral student in Clinical Psychology and Walker works in freelance production) we usually work as a team. We understand that it can be a lot to welcome one sitter into your home, and that some individuals are hesitant to book a couple. We are happy to discuss any concerns with you, but can verify that both of us have passed the required background check and will respect your space and animals as if they were our own. More feline-inclined than canine crazy? Don't despair! We are lovers of all animals and in our combined years of experience, have been both cat owners and sitters. We would be honored to cuddle with/entertain/or just leave your kitty be - depending on their individual preferences. Kate & Walker were great house and pet sitters with Mooney! They came by for a meet and greet before the weekend to make sure they knew everything about caring for Mooney and were familiar with the apartment. They sent updates and photos while we were gone, and they followed Mooney's specific medicine regimen. They left the apartment clean and tidy, and it seems like everything went smoothly!
Kate and Walker were amazing! This was the first time leaving my dog with people he did not know and he can be a very timid and reactive dog on a leash. They did two initial meet and greets to make him feel comfortable before they stayed with him for five nights. Kate sent many pictures and updates throughout the whole trip to let me know that Koby was doing great. The apt was spotless when we returned and they even stayed later in the evening since our flight got in at midnight. I am so grateful to have found them and cannot recommend them enough!

We had planned a month long trip abroad to visit family and were a little nervous having someone stay for that long. They visited prior to trip to introduce themselves to our pup and to work thru apt things. Kate & Walker were just amazing! They kept us up to date with Harvey throughout our trip. Lots of couch snuggles, walkies pics etc...Harvey did experience some separation anxiety but Kate worked thru it with us. We returned home late from a long day travelling with a baby and they both had stayed on until we arrived home (Walker even helped us with our cases!) These two are really fab and cannot recommend them enough! The apt was also spotless, sheets washed etc on our return! We will not hesitate to use their dog sitting services in the future. We have the utmost respect for anyone who books with us and will follow all rules for your home and your animals based on your preferences for your space. We are both in our early 30s and that comes with the maturity and experience of knowing how important it is to maintain a safe and calm environment. This is our number one priority for any animal we sit for.
Information Kate & Walker R. would like to know about your pet
We prefer to have an idea about your dog's general temperament and behavior around other animals, as well as any issues with separation anxiety or little quirks that we should know about (will only poop on grass, will immediately try to eat socks when seen, grazes their food throughout the day vs. scarfs it down immediately).
A typical day
We are flexible to provide whatever your dog needs in terms of activity and exercise. We've sat for older dogs that prefer to just go around the block a few times, and high-energy dogs that we exercise for multiple hours a day. Depending on your comfort level, we can do off leash hours at the park of your choice, or keep your pup on leash for park walks as well. We are also avid hikers and outdoorspeople, and if your dog is the same (and comfortable riding in a car), we would be thrilled to take them on hikes in the New York and/or New Jersey area.

Availability
Since Kate is a student and Walker works freelance, between the two of us we are typically able to spend morning and evening hours with your animal, and often times one of us will be available more often that that. If your pet requires mid-day walks, please make this clear upon your request and we can let you know if we can accommodate, if we will have to coordinate with a dogwalker, or if another sitter is a better fit! If you're booking for a weekend stay we can guarantee walks throughout the day, but during the week will depend on the week :)
