Educator & Animal Enthusiast!

Pet care experience

Hello there! My name is Kate and I'm here to offer flexible pet sitting and dog walking services! As your service provider, you can expect dependable, safe, compassionate, and pet-centered care for your pupper or cat. I will diligently adhere to your pet's plan of care, and will provide updates throughout my time with your pet. I have experience with LOTS of dogs and cats of many breeds, including leash reactive/anxious dogs. I completed the Fear Free training course, and rely on positive reinforcement training practices. A little about me personally and professionally: I'm an educator and work in the public school setting with children ages 4-14. I have a BS and MS in communication sciences and disorders (speech-language pathology). I also volunteer with the Dane County Humane Society. I'm a responsible, details-driven, hardworking animal lover. Although I'm newer with Rover, I have over 10 years of pet care experience, including working with and loving: horses, dogs, cats, birds, and small animals. I look forward to hearing from you, and learning all about your pet(s)!

Kate has been wonderful. She comes in and takes care of my dog when I’m in a pinch. Every time she comes, I have no complaints from Crane, I don’t have a light in my living room and she still takes care of my dog. She is wonderful.

Always a pleasure to work with Kate! This was our second time booking with her and couldn’t be happier.

Kate was a joy to work with! She came over for a meet & greet prior to us leaving for our trip, and wasn’t afraid to ask questions. She sent thorough notes and took great pics of our cats and was very communicative throughout her time caring for them! Definitely would suggest booking with her ?

She was wonderful. Took plenty of pictures and Crane seemed to have a wonderful time.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fully fenced-in yard and live in a quiet neighborhood. When walking your dog in your neighborhood, I am comfortable coming up with my own walking route, or following yours. I appreciate bringing training treats on walks so I can incorporate positive reinforcement training, especially with reactive/fearful dogs. When walking my own dog, I typically move to the other side of the street when passing another dog, just to be safe. I'm very aware of my environment when walking dogs, to help proactively identify triggers on walks and take steps to reduce over-threshold reactions.

Information Kate C. would like to know about your pet

Before working with your pet, especially dogs, I'd like to learn what verbal and nonverbal training cues you use so I can be consistent with your training. I'd also like to know about any reactivity your dog may have. I have experience with fearful and reactive dogs, and have proactive, positive strategies I can use to help ensure a happy and safe experience for everyone.

A typical day

Above all else, I will treat your pet like my own and give them allllll the love and attention they deserve. I will adapt all services to fit your pet's individual needs, including: walk speed, safety precautions, frequency of bathroom breaks, treat incorporation, jogging, separation anxiety work, and nutrition. Throughout all services, I can naturally incorporate fun, engaging training activities during visits. If there is a specific command/skill you'd like me to target, I'd be happy to work on that while with your dog. This may include, but is not limited to: sit, heel, down, touch, wait, leave it, drop, place, and recall.
