Pet care experience
*available for Thanksgiving!* I have been sitting through Rover since 2015, beginning here in Austin just before moving to Laramie, WY for grad school. Since moving back to ATX in 2017, I've taken care of pets full-time and part-time, even working as a kennel tech at the Austin Animal Center for a few months. I have a full-time job at a software company and work from home in 800 sq ft first-floor apartment that is nestled right up against a nature preserve, with access to three miles of on-leash trails right outside my front door. My complex also has a fenced dog park. About my pets: Perseus the pug/heeler mix is the newest family member, adopted in October 2022 from the Austin Pug Rescue. He has lots of energy and LOVES to have play buddies. Dusty and Balthazar, my cats, are two very different peas in a pod. Dusty LOVES to play with dogs, so much so that some are a bit intimidated by him! Balthazar usually keeps his distance from newcomers.
Reviews
Kat is our go-to. They always go above and beyond. So grateful.
Always so comfortable and at ease when Kat is coming over to check on our pets! Our first choice!
Always our go-to drop-in care taker. Kat is responsible, communicative, thorough, and our pets always seem so well cared for when we return.
I needed a sitter last minute and Kat saved my life. Peanut was very well taken care of and I got consistent updates and photos. 10/10 recommend!

Safety, trust & environment
Dogs are welcome on all the furniture in my home and are welcome to sleep in the human bed at night. I am active in the ATX comedy scene and sometimes have a performance or rehearsal for a couple of hours on evenings or weekends. Perseus is crated whenever I leave. If your pup is crate trained, please bring their crate! If not, they're welcome to free roam, and I can modify the space in whatever ways needed to keep my cats safe if you're not sure about their trustworthiness alone with cats.

Information Kat W. would like to know about your pet
I always default to precautions like separated meals (to prevent resource guarding accidents) and keeping your dogs on leash even in designated off-leash areas, but of course please let me know if your dog has specific behavior triggers!
A typical day
Weekends are flexible and we like to go on adventures, depending on what my canine guests enjoy! We love the off-leash area at Onion Creek and Mary Moore Searight. If your pup is patio-friendly, we might grab a coffee or dinner out on the town.

Availability
On weekdays, I take Perseus either on a 30-60 minute walk on the trails or to Longview Park for a play session in the morning before I begin working remotely. I take the dogs out for bathroom breaks several times per day, usually with a 30-minute walk over lunch.
