Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Kat, and I adore animals. I also have a ton of experience caring for them, and even training them. I always look after my clients' pets as if they were my own! I have two wonderful cats of my own, former strays named Theo and Gary. They teach me so much, as all pets do. When I was growing up, our family always included at least 3 pets- from a Doberman, to several Golden Retrievers, to a German Shepherd, to a Boston Terrier. One day, I even convinced my mom to let me take in a black, fluffy kitten. I named him Spike! :D My mom has been a professional dog trainer my whole life. She is widely respected and renowned for her 40+ years of outstanding work with dogs and their people, and known for using gentle, pragmatic, and effective methods. I picked up a lot of the practice and methods from her over the years, even working as an assistant in her dog classes for a few years. I've been providing pet care for around 15 years now, as a dog training assistant back in Michigan where I'm from, then as a dog walker and house sitter in San Francisco while I was living there. I'm fairly new to Louisville, but eager to get started! You can relax and enjoy your trip knowing your pet is in capable, loving, and safe hands while in my care! I send lots of photos and detailed updates each visit, so there's no need to wonder how your pet is coping with the changes. Many of my clients report that their pet was so calm and happy upon their return, that it was like they’d never left! This review (from one of my former regulars in San Francisco) is very representative of one's typical experience with me: "We asked Kat to watch our dog and 2 cats while out of town for the weekend and it was wonderful! She sent pictures with updates after every visit that showed her developing a relationship with our animals and them enjoying each other's company. In the past when we've gotten home, our animals have seemed anxious and out of sorts for a day or two, but not after their time with Kat. Kat grew up with multiple dogs and cats in our home. She knows their needs and their language. As her mother (professional dog trainer,) I know her deep affection for pets.
Kat has been cat sitting for me off and on now for several months, and she is always thorough in looking after my kitty. I love that she spends some time here with him, even if he doesn’t always interact with her, just so that he’s not completely alone the whole time I’m gone.
Super communicative and reliable. Took great care of our cats over Xmas, would hire again.
Kat checked in on my young cat while I was away and did a great job keeping him entertained and taken care of! She was easy to communicate with and left the space clean, and even offered to drop in an additional time when she was in the area.

Let me know if there are any quirks to your pet's personality that I should know about. Every animal has their own personality but when I'm just getting to know one, it can be helpful to know what to expect as to avoid undue alarm on everyone's part. Especially if it's something weird but easily avoidable, like they freak out at the sight of backpacks, or they hate the sound of crinkling plastic. Hahaha! Just let me know. Thanks!
A typical day
Let me know what type of activities your pet enjoys the most. We can play fetch, tug-o-war, hide-and-seek, or go to a dog friendly park. Otherwise, a good walk around the neighborhood always does the job just fine, if it's safe for us to do so. Let me know about your dog's walking style. If they need to work on heeling better, that's ok and I likely can help, but I need to know ahead of time. If your dog already heels nicely, we have more options available to us in terms of exercise. I can confidently handle a dog of any size if they are polite on leash.
