Pet care experience

Hi! I’m Kat and I live with my husband, Matt, our two children and our pets. I am so fortunate to work in a secondary school (making me fully DBS checked, of course) which means I’m at home full time during half terms and holidays. My small terrier is super friendly and is always ready to make friends, and since our other rescue dog (a large husky/German shepherd) crossed the rainbow bridge recently, our home is open to other dogs who are happy to treat the place like their own. It’s a cosy house with a secure garden and some lovely, Exciting routes nearby, perfect for fun walks and exercise, before coming home for food, a snooze and regular tummy rubs and ear scratches! My children are always keen to play a good game of fetch, or a splash in the pool in the warmer months, but are equally fab at knowing when a dog is ready for some quiet time. I’m more than happy to accommodate any kind of dog and whatever their preferences and routines entail; it can be scary to leave your furry babies with someone you don’t know, so meet and greets at my house prior to their stay are always welcome, as well as any questions or requests you may have.

Sid was very anxious when we left him with Kat. He didn't want us to leave him alone. We walked away feeling upset. But, Kat worked her magic and Sid had a wonderful time for the next ten days. Kat kept us updated regularly with text and photos. We felt very happy with Kat and her family looking after Sid. I highly recommend Kat looking after your pet.

Jack our little lab had a 1 night sleepover at Kats. It was on one of the hottest days of the year. Kat made sure jack had plenty of shade available but all Jack wanted to do was go swimming in the pool. Kat and her husband are such lovely people and I would highly recommend Kat to anyone who was looking for a dog sitter. Kat is now Jacks new best friend. Thanks again Kat. Lots of love from Gentleman Jack, Jemma & Lewis xxx

I’m more than happy to set up a bed or crate during your pet’s stay, if this is what you prefer. However, when I’m at home, the animals are able to roam the house and garden at their own leisure - my home is their home! Quite often, dogs will ignore their own bed at night and join me in mine instead and that is absolutely fine by me!

Information Kat D. would like to know about your pet

I’m a lover of all dogs, great and small, and would be glad to accommodate them, so long as they’re not the cat/children-eating kind. I just need to know about any medical conditions and dietary requirements, and any particular routines that your pet should keep. This enables me to make your pet feel familiar and safe while staying with us.

A typical day

We are surrounded by some fantastic walking routes; long and short, so I would make sure your dog(s) can enjoy those, whether they are off-lead explorers or prefer to remain a little closer. Plenty of ball throwing, stick fetching, tummy tickling fun!

Availability

Luckily, working in a school means that I’m at home to care for your pets throughout the holidays, weekends and half terms, and of course before and after work. I pop home during my lunch hour too, if necessary. However, my father-in-law is always delighted to pop round whilst I’m working to offer any boarding dogs a short walk, a bit of company or a Potter around the garden, which means that your dog won’t ever be without a friendly human face for longer than an hour or so!
