I have a major soft spot for seniors and disabled pets, but absolutely love pets of all ages, breeds, and size. I am also great with dogs that have behavior issues. I have grown up with dogs my entire life and have volunteered at my moms nonprofit dog rescue in (virtually & in person) since 2011. My mom doesn’t have a breed-specific rescue, so I have worked with dogs ranging from fear-biting 3lb Chihuahuas to exuberant knock-you-off-your-feet 100lb+ Irish Wolfhounds that would counter-surf for pizza. Since 2011, over 8,000 dogs have been adopted through my moms dog rescue- I have probably spent more time with dogs than people in my lifetime! All of the dogs at the rescue run in large play yards during most of the day in groups of 3-15, so I have experience keeping dogs from misbehaving (you have no idea how much a slobbery squeaker toy means to some dogs!) and am confident that I can keep your pup safe in any situation! I understand that dogs do not always act themselves around strangers, and I am happy to work with your dog if they are afraid of new people, have aggression issues, or are overly-excited/hyper. I have seen it all! I have 2 years of experience working at a vet clinic and am confident in caring for any type of dog regardless of size, age, temperament, or with any disability. I also have experience caring for horses, goats, cats, fish, rats, birds, lizards, hamsters, cows, mice, and rabbits. I was the main caretaker of the furry patients that were boarding or recovering from surgery/illness over the weekends while the vet clinic was closed and am experienced in caring for pets recovering from illness/surgery. I can administer topical, oral, and subcutaneous medications and can provide basic first aid if needed. If your dog is on a special diet that requires cooking- I love to cook! I have a few years of experience cooking for my own dogs and for the shelter dogs that were picky eaters or had food allergies. Whenever I felt that petsitting and taking classes wasn't enough in college, I was a foster parent for kittens that were too young to be adopted at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter in Arkansas. I would foster up to 6 kittens at a time until they were old enough to be vetted and sent back to the no-kill shelter to find their forever homes.
