Karry's Kanine Bed and Breakfast

Pet care experience

Before reading about my home, please note: * I cannot take dogs that haven't mastered potty training. The occasional accident due to nerves or excitement is expected. However, please be realistic: Dogs that go potty outside, but also mark inside are not potty trained. I have stated this in my profile, but people still bring dogs to meet-and-greets asking if it's ok for the dog to mark in the house. Remember, this is someone's home. I do have an indoor doggie potty if dogs feel inclined to use it, but, marking around the house is not acceptable. * I just became a foster mom, so children under the age of 7 may be in my home. If you're seeing that I'm available on Rover it means I feel the kid(s) are good around dogs. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ REGULAR PROFILE BELOW _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Work-at-home, experienced dog mom ready to take your canine loved ones for a weekend (or weekday) getaway. I love dogs, and I'm good with them. I have a degree in Behavioral Analysis, grew up raising guide and service dogs, have fostered rescues and have 2 dogs of my own. I'm certified in Canine CPR and First Aid. I have a mini Schnauzer, Hansel (Hans). He will play with any dog that can keep up with him, but respectfully leaves dogs along that don't want to be bothered with him. My other dog (Murphy) is a laidback senior, but he needs mental stimulation. So, I'm catering to dog personalities on both ends of the spectrum and everything in between. Below is a sample of our daily routine, but it can be tailored to your dog. I do require proof of vaccinations and a meet-and-greet for first time guests. (Please see important notes below re: height/weight guidelines, vaccs, potty training, and medical recovery). 7a - 12pm: Rise and Shine, Potty time! Enter the private fenced yard to relieve yourself after a good nights sleep. We have ground texture for every dog's preference -- concrete, stone, mulch, grass -- and many trees and shrubs for you males to "leave a message" on. Then enjoy an activity of your choice: 5-10 min Stretch, Hugs, Massage for the seniors or 5-10 mins of "ball in the hall" for those that prefer a morning workout Breakfast is served, made-to-order per your owner's instruction. Relax on the space of choice (rug, hardwood, tile, dog bed) to enjoy a morning chew toy. (Owner provided) Finish out your morning napping in one of our many comfort zones....couch, bed, crate, outdoor patio, rug, dog bed, window seat. Soft music is provided in some rooms. 12p - 1pm Potty break and lunch (optional). Enjoy a short walk or another quick round of "ball in the hall". 1p - 6pm The rest of the afternoon is yours (free time). Most of our guests take another nap, wrestle with each other or make use of the toy or ball box. Snacks and potty breaks are provided as needed. 3p - 5pm Popular Activity: Sit in the living room "theater" (the window seat or back of the couch) waiting for the mailman to show up or neighbors to come home to bark at. (Bonus: Other dogs, birds and cats often come by as well!). 6p - 6:30pm Optional Activity: Meal Prep "Demonstration". Take any seat near the kitchen. Watch a human dinner being made, and be on the look out for clean food "appetizers" (i.e. dog-safe vegetables) that the chef may throw your way (but only if allowed by your owner!). 6:30pm Dinner is served, followed by another chew toy or kong (Owner provided). 7:30p - 9:30pm Weekdays (and also weekend afternoons): Partake in a variety of activities, which may include: - A long walk around the neighborhood, stopping at the local park or school for a game of ball - Cruising (a.k.a. Running errands with your host) - Dog park visit - Pool party! (Kiddie pool with water toys, lounge chairs and/or mats on the patio) - Go for a hike (level of difficulty and length will be according to guest's ability) - Go swimming at the dog beach in Albany (weather permitting) - Game Night ("Who knows how to sit?", Tug, Tag, Hide and Seek, Find the Toy, and other mental stimulation games). - Variety show (everyone does their favorite trick) - And more! 9p - 11pm Evening snack, and relaxation time in our main living area. Another round of "ball-in-the-hall" can be done to accommodate our guests that prefer a work out before bed. Your human caretaker for your stay will provide turndown service. Your preferred bed of choice will be fluffed, clean blanket laid, lights turned down, and music or low TV (cartoons or animal shows) will be played. When you're ready for bed, your caretaker will provide ear rubs, paw massage, back rub and a pat on the head to help ease you in to sleepy time. Spa appts are scheduled as needed. During rainy or muddy days, "paw wash" or "body rinse" are often complimentary. All food dishes are disinfected before serving to guests. Floors and furniture are cleaned daily. Beds and toys are cleaned in-between guests. Cookies are complimentary. We have a variety of toys to play with, including, tennis balls, squeaker balls, light-up balls, stuff animals, bento balls, antlers, bones, kong, rolling treat balls, and other chew items (if allowed by owner). OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES: * For safety reasons, I can only take dogs under 30pds and generally no taller than ~20-22 tall (from back paw to rump) . Unfortunately, Rover doesn't let me specify this except for here. Small dogs playing with taller dogs usually ends up in someone getting hurt. Also, bigger dogs may choke on the small dog toys. I could make an exception for a medium sized SENIOR dog with a low activity level. * I only take dogs from responsible owners that can provide current vaccinations. A MEET-AND-GREET IS REQUIRED FOR 1st TIME GUESTS AND OWNERS MUST BRING CURRENT VACCINATIONS WITH THEM. * Guests must be SPAYED OR NEUTERED. At this time, I cannot take dogs that haven't mastered potty training. (The occassional accident is expected. However, please be realistic: Dogs that go potty outside, but also mark inside are not potty trained.) Please specify your drop off and pick up times during booking requests, so we can get you on the calendar appropriately. Daycare is up to 12 hours and drop off / pick up times are flexible. Overnights are 24 hrs of care.

Karry was a wonderful sitter! I was worried about leaving my dog Lady for a long weekend, but Karry was super knowledgeable about dogs and knew how to make her comfortable. By the end of her stay, she was a part of the pack! I highly recommend Karry if you are looking for a sitter and will definitely be reaching out to her again when I'm going out of town.

You could not find a better pet sitter than Karry. We picked her to host our dog, Davi for 2 separate trips when we were going to be out of town. While evaluating dog sitters her profile, which was clear and detailed, stood out. It was clear that she was a very experienced and caring dog owner and sitter. All communications prior to the stay were prompt. During our dog's stay with her she provided detailed feedback which we really appreciated. Our dog is not the easiest one to care for and she not only entertained her diva behavior but took efforts to connect with her more deeply. We were completely put to ease during the first meet and greet at her house and were able to go on our trips without having to worry about our dog. Karry is a fantastic person to look after your pet and she will be our first choice anytime we are looking for a sitter.

Karry is outstanding! Communicative, understanding, and very nice. Her two dogs are lovely and friendly to both people and other dogs. She treated our lil' old lady like one of the family.

I actually can't imagine a better host. We hosted dogs in the past and have put Maddie with probably a dozen sitters and Karry is the nicest and most caring sitter we have ever known (ourselves included). Really responsive, detail oriented, nice, constant updates, respectful, the list goes on. So thankful to have found her.
