21 Years Experience Caring For Dogs

Pet care experience

I love: How happy dogs are to see people. Their unfettered love of the world. The goofy ways they have fun. Their fuzzy little faces. Their odd and delightful noises. All the little quirks that make a dog unique. I'm supremely excited to be able to work with dogs all day, every day. Dogs bring joy and happiness into my life. Being able to care for them and make sure they're having a wonderful day would make me one lucky lady. I’m deeply compassionate, completely dependable, and I have a fun, offbeat sense of humor. I was twelve when my family got our first dog, and I was hooked. Their love and warmth enriched my life, and I was so excited to be able to help out. I loved training them, going on walks, and playing as often as possible. Over the years, I’ve often been the trusted caregiver for the pets of friends and family. Gizmo was a fourteen-year-old Papillon who came into my life when he was six months old, and sadly passed away in 2018. I was the guardian of a fluff ball named Munchkin for twelve years. Her nickname was Lumpy and she was a sweetheart. Baby, my Collie mix, also lived for twelve years despite losing her eyesight at age 6 to SARDS (Suddenly Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome). Their losses are felt daily, but I have endless love to share for each and every pet who crosses my path. And I gained invaluable experience through caring for a pet with special needs. The Rover app makes communication simple and direct. I’ll let you know when I arrive, what your pup does on walks, and so on--including special extras like grooming. I’ll also make sure to take a cute photo of your pup every day. Most importantly, I’ll communicate quickly if I notice anything that may be of concern.

Karla was on time...if she was going to be late she would text me ahead of time to let me know that she'd be a few minutes late. She set a timer so that my dog Nina got the right amount of play time. Karla also took a picture of my dog Nina every time that she played with her...even though I was home. I appreciated that.... My other dog Gwen wouldn't play with her ( I didn't realize that Gwen wont play with other people) and Karla offered to give me money back because she was really only working with one dog....that wasn't necessary... however I really appreciated that she asked......

Karla was awesome. My Hoshi girl is usually slow to warm up to strangers. However, she let Karla leash her for her walk and afterwards even let her pet her. I'm happy to know I have found someone in Santa Monica to help with my girl.

Information Karla G. would like to know about your pet

I’ll take the pup for a test walk at our meet-and-greet, and we’ll go over all the important info that will help make the stay a success: The pet’s schedule. Any medical requirements. Food restrictions. Behaviors outside the house (Do they like other people or dogs? Do they get skittish? Do they eat things off the ground? Do they have a history of escape artistry?) Favorite walks, games, activities, treats.

A typical day

The pup and I will go for a morning walk, and then it will be time for the yummy morning meal (and any medications he or she may require). We'll do whatever activities she loves best during the day, be that playing with her favorite chew toy or throwing a ball. We might go to a local dog park, or get extra snuggles as the day unfolds. There will be an afternoon walk and another after the evening meal. If your pup has an adventurous spirit, we’ll go exploring around the neighborhood--or beyond, if you’d like! I’ll dispense treats at your discretion and generally follow your usual schedule as much as possible. Generally, I’ll never leave the pup alone for longer than four hours at a time, and will stay overnight starting around 7 pm.
