My 6yo needs more doggie playtime!
Pet care experience
My son loves dogs, and although I have mostly been a cat person in the past, his enthusiasm has gotten me exited about dogs too. We have been hanging out in dog parks just to play with other people’s dogs. I thought Rover would be a great way for us to spend more time with dogs without the expense I just can’t take on right now. I am home most weekdays. I sell Barefoot children’s books at teacher conferences and school book fairs, and at the local farmers market in the summer. I know about these events in advance, so I can block out specific times on my calendar. We live in Jamaica Plain, and there is practically a park on every corner! I have a nice backyard, fenced in on three sides.

My son (who will be at school from 9-5 on weekdays) has ADHD, which can mean occasional unexpected behaviors. If there is a chance your dog might bite or attack him if he startled the dog, or hits me, for example, that’s not a chance we could take. While I do not have experience giving injections to dogs or taking care of senior dogs, I did have to inject fluids under the skin of my two elderly cats for a couple of years each before they died.
A typical day
I will go on neighborhood walks in the many parks around Jamaica Plain. My son and I will enjoy long games of catch, fetch, and tug of war with your pup. We love to swim so if you have a dog who likes swimming that might be an option while the weather is nice.
