Dog-less lover of all animals
Pet care experience
I have worked professionally in animal care & training of marine mammals and birds for over 7 years. Two of my best friends in life have been a yellow lab named Bronson and a tuxedo cat named Mr.G. While I absolutely love spending time with animals of all taxa, I do not personally have the financial resources to support having a dog or cat of my own. Finances aside, I also recognize that the time commitment required of a dog (or cat) can be extremely challenging, which is why I want to step in and help others to have more time for themselves while also providing the best care possible for their beloved animals! Especially with high energy dogs, I recognize that proper and consistent training is a huge part of keeping them happy and healthy. If you have put in a lot of work in training your dog, I will work hard to maintain that while you're away. Wherever I live, I'm frequently the person fellow employees or acquaintances will ask to watch their dogs while they're away. Whether you need a live-in doggie mom or just someone to provide a little extra exercise, you can rest assured that your dog will receive the care and attention he or she needs. As an added bonus, photography is another passion of mine so in addition to a happy dog my time with your precious pooch could also provide some adorable photos!
Reviews
Kari sat for our two large dogs (our kids) when my husband and I were away for the weekend. She was incredibly reliable and went above and beyond to make sure the pups had a good time and were cared for. She followed all of the written instructions we left for her and also texted pictures, which we loved. I would highly recommend Kari as a trustworthy and loving dog-sitter.

I will provide whatever type of stimulation you think is best for your dog. Some need lots of exercise, some just need lots of attention. I am happy to cater to your dog's unique personality.
Information Kari G. would like to know about your pet
I like to know what behaviors (if any) your dog already knows and how you ask for them so that I can best communicate with your dog (for example, does your dog follow hand cues for sit or lay down better than verbal cues?). I also like to know what scenarios or stimuli could make your dog nervous or uncomfortable (i.e. large vehicles, loud noises, etc.). I would also like to know what their baseline appetite is like. If they don't immediately eat all their food when I feed them, is that normal or is that odd? Just anything that can help me identify if they're potentially unwell.
A typical day
I believe each dog is an individual and will cater to their activity levels and interests. If they need slow walks with lots of smells, that's great. If they need to go somewhere where I throw a favorite toy 100 times, that's great. If they need to just be talked to and loved on, that's great too. As a former animal trainer, I will closely adhere to any training concept or philosophy you are currently working on with your dog so that you don't feel like they've fallen behind or lost their manners while you're away. :)

I am adamant about getting myself outdoors and exercising every day and it’s lovely when I have animal companions who need the same thing. My job schedule is always changing and I do my best to alter my daily tasks around your animal’s preferred routines.
