Giant Dog Mom & Huge Animal Lover!!

Pet care experience

I've had dogs in my home since I was an infant. They have always been a huge part of my life and my heart. Upon entering high school and college, I became actively involved in the Red Cross as an emergency shelter animal coordinator in New York. This title required me to develop relationships with local vets and shelters to place animals in care so people could enter flood and disaster shelters that didn't allow animals inside. From there, I moved on to working with animal shelters as a main volunteer in Texas. I also had quite the habit of finding strays around Killeen, TX, bringing them home for a clean up, a free vet visit, and bringing them to the shelter. I now live in Pinellas County and own a 140 lb loving, goofy 4.5 year old bullmastiff named Cooper. Whether you have a chihuahua or a great dane, I have hands on experience with on and off leash walks, general house training, confidence training (for anxious pets), and long-term care. I offer any type of care required except boarding within my home (boundaries for my own anxious pooch) and will provide daily photos, pupdates, and any medication/care required to have your furry friend happy and healthy!

We’re so glad we found Karen through Rover to keep our anxious pup. She made leaving him for the first time easier by doing a meet and greet ahead of time so we could see how our dog and her got along. She kept us updated on their activities and sent pictures. She even left our camper cleaner than it was before she got there.

Karen was amazing with my very hyper Great Dane luka, she took him for a walk and even played fetch with him for awhile, he was so calm for the rest of the day will definitely be calling her again.

Karen’s love for animals makes her a responsible, caring dog walker. She has been around dogs all her life, currently owning a shy bull mastiff that is one of the best trained, people/dog friendly large dog I have ever met. Karen is in tune with pets behavior and a loving owner. You can’t go wrong with having her give your pet a little extra love!

I have experience handling animals up to 140-150lbs successfully, as well as handling animals with skittish/anxious tendencies. I have handled post-surgical care for animals, as well as medication dispensing and tracking. I have a reliable SUV that is dog friendly for adventures, a clean driving and criminal background, extensive knowledge of the Tampa Bay area, and direct experience dealing with animal medical emergencies – such as unexpected cuts, injuries, and illnesses. I have an animal first aid kit I keep on hands including dog-safe benedryl and pepto, gauze and wrap, styptic powder, ear wash, nail trimmers, combs, tweezers, and more. If your pet is with me, they'll be happy, safe, and attentively watched over.

Information Karen W. would like to know about your pet

-Name and age (yes, including the cute nicknames haha – I call my dog Pooper Pie) -Medical history / current health -Activity level and preferred activities -Any limitations (anxiety, social triggers, friendly/unfriendly with other animals or people) -Training level and if further training is in progress or desired -Feeding / medication schedules

A typical day

Depending on the activity level of your pet, I offer games of fetch and frisbee or can simply give your pet pats on the couch. I love sensory stimulation games, as it gives them hours of mental activity on top of physical exertion. If you don't already own one, I can provide one that I would take with me upon leaving. I also highly recommend pup ice cream after walks in the heat and try to avoid hot pavement in excess whenever possible to keep their feet safe and protected. To-go water on longer walks and play sessions is always on hand.
