Pet care experience
After almost 20 years working as an animal behaviorist and trainer, I feel truly fluent in "dog". Reading their body language, keeping them safe, and going on adventures together is truly the best way to spend a day. Each dog has their own unique personality, and every dog I get to know ends up feeling like a new furry friend. I've worked with sharks, chimpanzees and giant tortoises, to name a few, but the majority of my career has been spent with the most loyal, sweet and comical animals on earth - dogs. I'm looking forward to another 20 years of drool, exploding couches, endless fur, and games of fetch. I also enjoy helping shy, fearful and reactive dogs find more confidence and freedom. Can't wait to meet your four legged best friend!

This is the first time we have used Karen to care for our boxer. We were very impressed with her as a person and so very pleased with the care she gave our Sophie. She is very knowledgeable about pet care and training and gave us some great input to help us with Sophie on the leash. We highly recommend Karen!!!!

Highly recommended! I have known Karen for seven years. I first got to know her as a superb dog trainer who helped me with my very unruly pup. She is caring and knowledgeable about animals of all kinds. I can’t think of a better person to entrust the care of your pets with.
Karen is a wonderful person. She is awesome with animals. She started training my dog a Toy Fox Terrier, about 6 years ago to be a companion dog. We have stayed friends. She actually keeps Kira for me if I need to be gone overnight. She also comes to the house if I need her too. She is a plethora of information of any sort from injuries to fear or anything else pertaining to animals.

I have two senior large breed dogs that are very neutral and friendly, a kitty that tends to stay out of the way, and a 4 year old daughter that has been raised with animals of all sorts. If your pet has shown aggression to other animals or children, let's talk about it first to make sure that we are a good fit.
A typical day
We live near several great hiking spots (Falls Lake is my favorite), dog parks, and greenways. I'm happy to run with dogs that enjoy a good run, or just hang on the couch with the older ones that just want to snuggle. Peanut butter kongs (with mom or dad's permission, of course), positive reinforcement training sessions, and just hanging together in the big fenced in back yard can be on any daily docket for our doggy guests.
