Hi there! My name is Karen. I currently live with my best friend Zora (my dog) and my mouse (yes I have a mouse), Flowers. Throughout my life there's been little time where I didn't have an animal sharing it with me. This includes dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, hamsters and even a horse, although I had a stable for him :-) I love the outdoors and all that live there, including the 2 Racoons that visit my garden nightly for their supper. My love for animals comes from my understanding 'they don't have a voice' so they depend on us to be kind, love and care for them. I've taken care of my neighbor's dogs on many occasions and have had dogs adopt me, throughout my years of walking. I love it when during my daily walk with Zora, a dog recognizes me from a distance on the trail and comes bounding toward me, crying, tail wagging, overly excited to see me and Zora. My heart feels so full. This is part of the reason I decided to sign up with Rover and offer my services. I'd love to be able to share this with you and your family member/s. If you're looking for someone to take care of your loved one, someone to help reduce their 'miss you' anxiety - I'm here to help. I understand the needs and behaviors of dogs in-particular and how important a routine is for them. I'm an advocate for the Humane Society and a Pet Pal for MaxFund Dog Shelter in Denver. I'd like to know everything about your dog whether it be them loving the chase of a squirrel, rabbit etc, how long of an exercise do they need to keep with their usual routine to what their diet is. Do they fear other dogs? Have they experienced being attacked by other animals? Were they adopted from animal rescue? Do they fear other people? Are they on any medications? Have they had any surgeries in the past? Do they suffer anxiety when alone? Are they afraid of thunderstorms, fireworks, emergency sirens? These are an example of questions I'll be asking. I don't have a breed preference.
A typical day
I'll be more than happy to stay with their normal walk routine if that's what you prefer or can just have them jump in my vehicle and we can venture out to a trail as I do with my dog. If your dog is of age or has a disability or just simply doesn't like to go out much, I can stay home and share play with their toys or just sit and cuddle.
