We have loads of love for animals!
Pet care experience
My 13 year old daughter and I are huge animal lovers. We are gentle and intuitive. We treat all animals like they are part of our family. I have over 30 years experience owning cats and dogs. My daughter has always had animals in her life and has always had a natural way with them. We currently have 2 cats and 2 hedgehogs and cared for our neighbour's dog regularly (before they moved away). We also volunteer at a community farm sanctuary where we have experience caring for cows, horses, goats, sheep, bunnies, chickens, roosters, ducks, turkeys and guinea pigs. We love meeting new animals and actually are those people who talk to the animals when we are out in our neighbourhood. We love the idea of being able to care for your animals when you are away, whether it is for a day visit or an overnight visit. We also specialize in caring for dogs after surgeries. I have been a Jikiden Reiki practitioner since 2013. I have experience giving Reiki to the animals at Kindred Community Farm Sanctuary, including Gracie, the cow, while she was giving birth! Our animals love Reiki and have been known to all sit near by while I give a session to someone else. My daughter recently became a Shoden (first) level Jikiden Reiki practitioner, too.
Reviews
Karen and her daughter were great with our cats and very respectful with the care routine. Karen sent us pictures every single day for three weeks long with lovely daily reports. I can guarantee that you won’t regret choosing Karen for your furry friends.
Karen and her daughter were great! They took my dog Charlie for a long walk and shared lots of pictures. They were prompt at pick up and very responsive and personable over text. We will definitely book again.
The best love and care for my kitty!
Since getting older and losing most of his mobility, my maltepoo has complex needs and lots of separation anxiety. Karen is gentle and patient with him, and he is happy and comfortable while there and after his visits. It's really helpful to be able to leave him with someone loving and experienced with special needs. Both her and her daughter take great care of him.

We care for pets in our home and client's home as if they were our own. We always make sure they are secure before opening doors. Our fence isn't completely fenced. For smaller dogs we do have x pens we can put up in front of the two walkway openings. Mostly we err on the side of caution always to make sure a dog doesn't get away from us. We are extra diligent for those dogs that are flight risks.

Information Karen D. would like to know about your pet
It would be best to know ahead of time what kind of activities a dog likes, what their energy level is, what their feeding times are and if there are any food or medicine instructions.
A typical day
We would plan activities based on the dog and their likes and needs. We have a small neighbourhood park a few blocks away that we can walk to. Alternatively, we can take the dogs to a bigger park or the beach. We can also play games, like throw a ball, for dogs who love those type of games.

Availability
I mainly work from home and have recently launched art classes from our home. At the moment we are running part time classes which gives us plenty of time to attend to any pets in our care. However, any dogs staying with us on those days will need to be good with children or be okay with staying in another room (for not more than 2 hours). You can always check to see if the stay you request overlaps with any of our classes. As well, we do leave the house once or twice a week (for a 3 hour maximum per outing) for outside volunteer and regular work. Otherwise, we are fairly flexible and like to adapt to the pets regular routine as best we can. We generally only have 1 dog at a time for sitting in our home but have been known to have 2 if we feel both dogs would get on well with each other AND we have both family's approval.
