A Dog Mom w/ Huge Heart
Pet care experience
I grew up with dogs. Since May 2017, I am a happy dog mom to my rescue dog Chico, a 5-year-old Spaniel / Beagle mix. When I first moved to DC in 2015, I was dog walking to make extra money, exercise and a boost of joy in my life. Since adopting Chico, I have helped friends with walking their dogs, check-in, or overnights (from 2-3 days to a month).
Reviews
Karen is a delight! She is a thoughtful caretaker, and treats furry friends like her family. You couldn’t ask for a more prepared or professional caretaker of your pet. She asks thoughtful questions to ensure she understands your pets personality. I can say she is hands down the best decision you will make, just ask her pup Chico!
Karen is the most caring & attentive pet mama! She’s taken care of my boxer Lady since she was just a pup. I know that when I leave Lady in Karen’s hands, she is not only safe but will have a great time. Frequent walks, dog park plays, and timely feeds. Everything I need to keep Lady on her schedule when I’m away. Thank you, Karen, for treating Lady like part of your family!

Safety, trust & environment
I am comfortable with established routines, strict food concerns, giving dogs their medicine, and bathing dogs (including brushing their teeth). I will not cut or trim nails. My dog Chico has allergies. The vet has him on Apoquel (medicine), so I'm accustomed to giving my dog his medicine. I am cautious about broken glass on the sidewalk to avoid injured paws (but familiar with nursing paw injuries; have all the supplies needed for injuries). I brush Chico’s teeth daily and wipe paws after walks. Chico eats a specialize diet. I reward with treats like carrots, blue berries, spinach or banana. Please let me know what special needs your dog has! Overnights - I live in a 2 bedroom apartment with a terrace. There is plenty of room for my dog and yours! I am comfortable with dogs sleeping on the sofa, my bed, and plenty of extra dog beds as well. Also, if you require your dog to sleep in a crate I have that available as well.

A typical day
We will explore the neighborhood and find a good green space for all the smells. My dog loves to stop and smell the flowers and mark all the trees. I try to avoid dog parks given it's an uncontrolled environment with other dogs. I prefer to dedicate my time with your dog and give them the exercise and potty time they need.
