Pet care experience
I grew up on the UES with a German Shepherd for 12 years and understand the importance of spending time outdoors with pups. I raised a dog in college and covered obedience training and exercise on a daily basis. I spent time taking care of cats, dogs and reptiles for neighbors while I was in High School and home from college. I understand individual temperaments well, and have worked with large dogs (90 lbs. +) who have food and toy aggression. I'm an extremely active individual and enjoy taking dogs either for long runs or to play fetch. Central park was my backyard as a kid, and I know the parks of New York very well.

We were thrilled to have Karan look after our boys for a few days--we scheduled the stay with limited lead time and he was super flexible and helpful throughout. He clearly has solid knowledge and experience and we came home to happy pups!
Karan was great! He took pictures everyday and my dogs seemed very happy when I came back. He responds quickly and gave me updates each day. There was even a point where I had a family emergency and though I would have to extend my stay at the last minute and he was willing to watch my dogs for another night, at the drop of a hat! I would definitely use him again.
Karan was super awesome with my old dog Zion! I came home to a happy dog!!
Karan is an animal lover through and through. He grew up with a beloved family cat and has been making animal friends ever since. My family’s 3 labs and 1 pit bull mix never get as much exercise as they do when he’s around (he can throw a ball farther than the rest of us and so has quickly become a retriever’s best friend!). I can attest firsthand to the degree to which he spoils his own cat, an NYC pound rescue, with treats and toys. His warm heart endears him to friends’ and family’s pups the city over.

The two most important things I need to know are 1. whether or not your dog has food or toy aggression and 2. your dog's history (this mostly only applies to adopted dogs). If a dog has food or toy aggression, I play with and feed the dog appropriately and potentially avoid too much interaction with other dogs. As for the latter, I've dealt with dogs who came from uncertain (likely abused) homes before being adopted - this led to fear of some particular dog breeds as well as large vehicles. I wasn't made FULLY aware of this at first, but picked up on it quickly and acted accordingly. I want your dog to feel as safe as possible with me, so knowing these things helps me immediately get into a groove with your furry friend.
A typical day
I prefer picking large parks to go for runs or play fetch- if there are only small parks around, that works fine (it all depends on the size of the dog). If there is no chance of aggression toward other dogs, then I enjoy going to dog parks for socialization. I used to play baseball, and love playing fetch in large fields.
