Puppers! Doggos! Woofers!
Pet care experience
Fun Fact: I was originally trained as a dog walker by Thomas Middleditch of Silicon Valley fame. With over 8 years in pet care, dog walking, managing kennels and pet sitting at doggie day cares. I have worked with all sorts of dogs. I once had a dog who had trouble sitting at corners, but I worked hard with him to figure out what the issue was. Through investigation and care I discovered the dog spoke Spanish lol. From then on I learned his commands that way : ) I have worked for: Green Paws, K-9 to 5 and DogGone fun in Chicago, IL. Back in my hometown of Portland, OR now. I missed trees! Currently, I want to walk dogs, because I love them! I can't have a dog of my own right now, but I find working with dogs fun, energizing and a great source of exercise! Something interesting about me? I am fluent in American Sign Language. Since 2005 I have been performing/teaching improv comedy and now run a comedy space in downtown Portland. I am active and quick on my feet! I have worked with dogs of all temperaments and sizes. I have a lot of knowledge of a variety of breeds. I have owned dogs in the past including a goofy Golden named Grady, and a Black Lab/Australian Cattle Dog mix who needed extra work with training. I also have spent a lot of time caring for friend's and family's dogs. In addition, I grew up with 6 cats, 3 rats, 1 gerbil, 1 guinea pig and countless fish. I have done pet sits and visits for dogs, cats, rabbits and a chinchilla!
Reviews
Kara Moore was my improv comedy teacher. She is reliable, communicative, talented, attentive, and FUN. She also has a slight obsession with dogs. I cannot think of a better human to have in your dogs life!
Kara lived with me and my dogs for 6 months. During that time she was loving and caring for both my dogs. She treated them as her own and I could rely on her to take care of them if I couldn't make it home or if I went out of town. She has a lot of experience in taking care of dogs and it shows.
Kara is a gem! She is incredibly responsible and reliable, but most of all she really cares for dogs like they're family. She's got a lot of experience with dogs from all different backgrounds, and knows how important it is to get to know a dog's unique personality. Can't recommend her enough.
Kara is a kind and caring person who takes her responsibilities seriously. She is great with my big dog and loves dogs in general. She is someone I trust and she is considerate toward others' needs and expectations.

Information Kara M. would like to know about your pet
1. Meet and greet before all stays and walks. 2. I want to know all about dogs and owner needs. For example: Activity level, comfort level in areas such as parks, streets and neighborhood walks. 3. Is the dog friendly with other dogs, and,or people. Is the dog shy with other dogs. 4. Does the dog have any special dietary needs (limited treats etc.) 5. Are there special instructions for the home Such as: Taking in mail, watering plants, or leaving specific lights on during times I am not in the home.
A typical day
What we do will depend on your dog’s activity level, age and needs. With younger more active dogs I like to get out and walk. Play outside and get that energy going. With older, or more shy dogs, I like to read what the dog needs. This could be cuddles, or just having someone home with them. I love to walk dogs in their own neighborhood. Also, Mt. Tabor and Laurelhurst park are great in SE. Cathedral Park, Overlook, or the bluff is great in North Portland.
