Long-Term Rover Professional ⭐️

Pet care experience

**Please don’t hesitate to contact me for services, even if my calendar shows I am unavailable on certain dates you may need. I am often able to squeeze you into my schedule regardless.😊** I’ve been petsitting for the past 12 years now, with the past 2 years being full-time through Rover! I even held the #1 spot on the Rover search results for over a year straight. I’ve become so well-known in the area that I’ve even had countless strangers contact me to take care of their pets! Working with dogs has become my life. I’ve become very experienced in dog training, working with an extensive range of different breeds, managing the hardships of puppyhood and senior life, and have even cared for several dogs that struggle with severe aggression and trust issues. I have managed to create close bonds with even the most difficult of dogs. I cherish that bond with the dogs I get the pleasure to know more than anything. :)

We have booked a 4-day, 3 night house sitting with our two pups with Kalissa due to an out-of-state trip. Our smaller dog is 15 years old and requires regular supervision as he is aging and thrives well with human interaction. Our bigger dog is 7 years old who loves to play and roll around the yard. Primarily for our smaller dog, we felt that house sitting would be the right fit as he will get the attention he would need. Although our bigger dog is a little bit more independent, she is use to having someone at home. We also wanted to ensure that they were both safe overnight. Prior to the booking, we were able to meet Kalissa at the house as she observed their feeding and outside time. We have confirmed several times that she understood our expectations and that we specially needed someone to stay overnight because we didn’t want them to be left alone for more than a few hours. We felt confident that she was capable in doing the job and she had great reviews. We were getting a little anxious on the first day right before the scheduled time as we were getting ready to head out and it took her some time to respond to our message re: instructions to get into the house (we do not want to give out any personal door codes without a clear confirmation). However, ultimately she responded, was able to get in without any issues, completed the pups meal rituals and outside time. She also sent us multiple pictures saying that everything was okay and they were as content as they could be. Things seem to be going smoothly as planned. The first thing we have noticed that was a bit concerning was on the very first night, she left the house after their nightly routine at midnight and stayed out to 5 am. (We were able to see her through the outdoor camera). We also heard through the camera that our smaller dog was feeling disoriented as he had started to whine. We didn’t think anything of it as we were sure there was a good reason and that she would be in regular communication with us. On the second day, we did not receive any communication, pictures or updates. It wasn’t until we received an alert about 7:15 pm that she left the house. Since we didn’t get any updates that day, we decided to check in with her after midnight and asked when she was planning on returning as we didn’t want a repeat of the night before. She responded a couple of hours saying she had some personal matter for the last two days and that she will be returning to the house now. We were quite upset that we booked a house sitting service and instead seem to have received more of drop-in services. We requested for her to tend to her personal matter as it was getting in the way of her responsibilities with our pups and they were not getting the care that we thought we were paying for. Unfortunately, the service was canceled and we had to work with Rover Support in getting emergency service for the remainder of our trip. While working with Rover Support, it was clear that it would be difficult to find a sitter during a last minute request so we decided to end our trip and return home. At this point, the dogs had not been out for nearly 12 hours and appeared to be very uncomfortable. We really wish that she would have communicated what was going on during the two days she was at the house. We would have been more at ease and may have made arrangements early. Leaving the door unlocked and our dogs alone for hours at night had put them in an unsafe environment. Unfortunately, for us, Kalissa was not the right fit for us and we will not be booking any services with her in the future.

I had an exceptional experience with our pet sitter who took care of our three dogs. From the moment we met, it was clear that they were a true animal lover. Our dogs instantly connected with them, and we felt at ease leaving our furry family members in their capable hands. Throughout their time with our dogs, Kalissa went above and beyond to ensure their well-being. They followed our instructions to the letter, from feeding schedules to playtime preferences. It was evident that they took the time to get to know each dog's unique personality and needs. We received regular updates and photos, which put our minds at ease while we were away. It was heartwarming to see our dogs happy and content, knowing that they were in such caring hands. Our home was also kept tidy and secure during our absence. What truly sets this Kalissa apart is their genuine love and dedication to animals. They treated our dogs as if they were their own, providing not just basic care, but also love and companionship. We returned home to find our dogs happy, healthy, and full of energy. I cannot express enough how grateful we are for the excellent care provided by Kalissa. They are not just a pet sitter but a true pet lover and a responsible, trustworthy caregiver. We will not hesitate to book their services again in the future, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking the best possible care for their furry friends. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our dogs!

Kalissa did a great job with my cuddly little dog. He was happy and well cared for while I was gone. Kalissa sent me pictures so I felt confident things were fine back home. Will use again!

I am very familiar with caring for all sorts of dogs, cats, smaller pets, and other animals — I’ve even cared for horses, bearded dragons, and chinchillas… you name it! When visiting your home, your pets will have my undivided attention and I will do anything necessary to keep them, and your home, completely comfortable and safe.

Information Kalissa S. would like to know about your pet

I will always reach out to schedule an in-person meet-and-greet beforehand (free of charge) to obtain all care instructions for your booking, but please let me know if your dog has any special needs I should know about in your initial message. It’s especially helpful for me to know if your pet has any aggressive behaviors (and how you usually counteract them), allergies, or other medical conditions. I am experienced in most situations, but it is always helpful for me to know those things up front. :)

A typical day

One of my priorities as your sitter is keeping your pets both physically and mentally active! I make sure that my stay isn’t just a supervision gig, but that your pets get the daily enrichment they need. I love playing fetch, going on exciting walks or hikes, or having a game of tug-of-war, to keep your dog moving. I also recognize the importance of mental stimulation for dogs, so I love to provide fun brain activities such as basic training sessions, puzzle toys, or using lick mats with the dogs I watch. I also make it a priority to maintain open communication with my clients before, after, and throughout the booking. I always send owners multiple photos and updates of how things are going throughout the stay, as to avoid as much separation anxiety (on both sides) as possible. ;)

Because of my long-time experience with animals (and dogsitting, specifically), I can confidently say I’ve become very accustomed to the petsitter life. I’m also currently completing my undergrad degree through online classes, which makes my schedule extremely flexible. I’m usually available all weekdays as well as weekends (see calendar for specifics). PLEASE don’t hesitate to shoot me a message even if my calendar seems full — sometimes I’m still able to work you into my schedule! ;) Pet care has become so much more than just work to me, and is now simply a regular part of my routine that keeps me active, happy, and healthy. THANK YOU for allowing me to do so!!
