When I was six years old, I decided I wanted to become a veterinarian when I "grew up." I have always been an avid animal lover and grew up with many pets (dogs, cats, fish). I dismissed the whole veterinarian idea when I figured out how much schooling I would have to go through. Becoming a vet tech crossed my mind, but I didn't want to lose money investing in an education that would never pay off. After graduating high school and flitting from one job to the next, I finally settled down to a job at Petsmart. I worked there for two years. I have learned quite a bit about animal behavior since working there. I have also cared for many different kinds of creatures--guinea pigs, chameleons, birds...even snakes! For an animal lover, it's hard to leave work in a bad mood after being slobbered on and loved on by your favorite customers! (Oh, and the customers with two legs instead of four were alright, too!) I now am pursuing my Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology online from Penn Foster College. I have a dog of my own (a seven-year-old cocker spaniel/poodle mix named Zoey), and she's completely spoiled rotten!
