Knowledgable, professional and the perfect dog-mom stand in for our husky. Kaitlin sent us regular updates and photos and was very responsive to our questions. It was a relief knowing our sweet girl was in such good hands. I think our dog hardly knew we were gone!

Thank you so much for your review! Kadie is such a sweetheart and I can't wait to see her again!

Kaitlin was awesome! The whole process of finding someone to take care of our dogs has been daunting. Kaitlin made the whole process simple. We have one shy dog that does not take well to strangers. By the second day she was cuddling up to Kaitlin. It was amazing!

Thank you so much for your kind words! Your pups are such sweethearts, I'm looking forward to hanging out with ...

Reliable caregiver for family dogs

I have loved and cared for dogs all of my life. My family's first puppy, a Brittany Spaniel, joined our family when I was about eight. A couple of years later, we brought home our second pup, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and they were best friends. I was very involved in their training and care all of their lives. My family & I loved and cared for them, my two littlest friends, for some ...

What Kaitlin would like to know about your dog

I would like to know as much as possible about your dog's behavior and routine at home, as well as any training that you have been doing at home so that I may continue to work with your dog on any behavioral issues or training goals. I have no breed restrictions but all dogs I care for must be people friendly, I make exceptions for dogs with "stranger danger" but who feel comfortable around me. You can always book a drop-in to have me over with you to acclimate your dog to hanging with me. I have a lot of experience with dogs who don't like other dogs. I have fostered both large and small dogs so I have no preference regarding size. I always do a meet and greet prior to booking a stay in order to make sure that I am the right fit for your dogs, finding them the right care is obviously your first priority, and it is mine as well.

When Kaitlin watches your pet

For in-home visits, Since I will be coming into your home when I visit your dog(s), I want to reiterate that I take this responsibility and your trust very seriously. I will follow your instructions regarding your home security diligently. I am happy to take a copy of your key for long-term bookings, I can use the alarm code and/or garage code, you can leave the key in a specified spot for me to use getting in and put back when I leave, or whatever makes you comfortable.

During drop-in visits I let your dog out in the yard and hang with him or her for the 30-minute visit. By 'hang out', I mean cuddle them and pet them and love on them the whole time! If you would like me to stay longer than 30 minutes, I can easily modify your booking to reflect an extended visit. I am happy to drop-in in addition to walking your dog(s), in that case I just book the stay for an hour.

For any visit, I will make sure that the water bowls are rinsed and refilled, all doors are locked, any gates are shut, and that your dogs are settled or crated. I will feed your dogs during my visits if they overlap with mealtime. I am very experienced with resource guarding, so if you have more than one dog and they have any issues eating together I am more than able to keep your pups apart and focused on their own meal.

For dog walking visits, I will walk your dog for up to 25 minutes (2.5 minutes to enter, 2.5 minutes to say goodbye), but the length of the walk will depend on the temperature, if it's too hot then I keep it short to avoid any risk of your dog(s) overheating. If there is any on-leash behavior that you would like to work on, I am happy to discuss it with you. Because one of the most common issues I come across is pulling on-leash, I keep martingale collars for a variety of sizes on hand, a few types of leashes & harnesses/leaders for a little "move" I use to teach the dog(s) to follow me instead of pulling ahead. It is neutral redirection that has proved very effective with many dogs of different sizes & temperaments. If you prefer that I adopt your own training methods, I am more than happy to learn how you walk (and any other protocol) so that your dog(s) have consistency.

If there are any other behaviors you would like me to work on, I am more than happy to discuss a plan of action with you.
