A place to stay when you're away

Pet care experience

For as long as I can remember I have had a passion for animals. Growing up I found myself always finding injured animals and begging my parents to allow me to bring them home so that I can attempt to nurture them back to health. When I was 5 years old we got our first family dog. My mom brought her home on New Year's Day 1995- an 8 week old shih tzu. Our family instantly fell in love, including our extended family. My Aunt ended up adopting her brother. They lived a long happy lives, showing us love and companionship. In 2009, I adopted my first kitten, expanding my passion from canines to felines. In 2011 I attended an online veterinary assistant program and within 12 months became a certified veterinary assistant. I got my first job as an assistant in a small animal hospital in NY and shortly after made a huge move across the country ending up in San Jose, CA. About 4 weeks later I landed a job as a veterinary assistant and customer service representative at a local Specialty Animal Clinic. From there I started working at an Emergency Animal Clinic. While living in California I acquired my tiny chihuahua pup, another kitty, and a pit bull. In 2016, we moved back to the East Coast and have settled in Raleigh North Carolina. Since moving here we have acquired 1 more pup (a boxer mix). My love, bond, and knowledge for animals is continuing to grow. For now my fur family is large enough, but I love the joy of spending time with and meeting new animals. When I pet sit for you and your fur babies, I will make sure to treat them as if they were my own and they will receive all my love and attention to keep them comfortable while you are away.

Kaitlin is an amazing dog sitter, she not only kept my naughty pup for 6 weeks while l recovered from surgery, she socialized him and picked up on his separation anxiety. Kaitlin loved my pup as if he was one of her own! Sending me updates and pictures, not only is Kaitlin a dog lover, she has patience, and understanding and experience with all types of social behavior! She also knows how to making sure you and the dog she caring for is safe and comfortable!

When it comes to dogs (or any animal) Kaitlin is passionate, and loving about their care and well being. She is talented and compassionate with a gentle touch that our dogs responded really well to. She finds a quick and wonderful way to build rapport and trust with our paw family and is willing to adapt to our pups needs. She is extremely professional with a lot of experience in dog and animal care and has been an asset to our family. Very trustworthy, and helpful.

Information Kaitlin M. would like to know about your pet

Being that I work in animal hospitals, I have a tolerance for most types of dogs. I do not discriminate against any breed and have an understanding of the anxieties that pets may have while their owners are away. However being that I have a large dog as it is, at this time I am unable to sit large dogs in my place of residence, but I am happy to come to your home to care for your large friends. For all canines that stay at my place they must be crate trained (for their protection). Being that I cannot be at home 24 hours a day I will be unable to keep my eyes on your pet while I work. To protect them from eating something that could be toxic or that could cause an obstruction I require they be crated when they cannot be directly supervised (the same goes for my own pups). Another must for canines staying at my place is that they are animal friendly, if your animal is weary of other dogs or cats I request that the stay be at your place of residence to keep everyone happy (especially your friend).

A typical day

Depending upon the age and energy level your pet has I am able to take your pet on walks up to 2 times a day up to an hour at a time. (one walk in the morning and one in the evening). All walks are leashed. Depending upon your dogs demeanor playtime a dog park may also be available. If your dog is good with other humans and responds you commands they may also be invited out to dinner with our family. We lead a very dog/pet friendly life style. My boyfriend and I plan our weekends around our dogs to make sure we do activities that they can be involved in. This includes (but not limited) hikes, long walks, camping, swimming, and biking. Please be sure to disclose all information regarding your pet; their demeanor, what they enjoy, if they get along with other dogs/cats, what their daily routine with you is, any medications they may be on or may need, any allergies that I need to be aware of and any other information you think is important to know. Although it may seem that I have strict policies, I just want to ensure the safety of all of the pets that I will be caring for as well as for the safety of my own.
