Pet care experience
My first time pup-sitting was when I was six years old. Not only did I make an incredible new friend, I also learned how to handle a pup who weighed more than I did! Fast-forward to present day: I am all about outdoor adventures! In Ocean Beach, I used to take pups to the dog beach to play and swim, but here we'll stick to walking along the Strand or the Greenbelt; maybe some hiking trails in PV or RH depending on time and location. I usually carry a portable water bowl, and if we have treats along, we're set until we get pooped! Honestly, any time spent with furry friends brings me joy - if your pup needs to stay in, we’ll chill indoors with as many belly scratches as possible. 💗 Quick CV: Latvian raised in Hermosa Beach, graduated from MCHS. I earned my BA at UCSB, my MBA at Pepperdine and currently I am earning my MA in Psychology. My name is pronounced "Kai-yuh".
Reviews
This was my first time using Kaija and I will definitely be reaching out to her again! She provided great updates and photos/videos every day and most importantly, built a strong relationship with my pup. He was sad to see her go! Thanks so much Kaija for treating my dog like he was your own!
Kaija was great! My dog Wiley is reactive and Kaija made sure to be patient with him while walking, avoid busy areas with his triggers, and sent us tons of updates. She was so respectful of our home and gave Wiley so much love. We will definitely be booking her again!
Kaija is great, my boy Lando had a great time and she sent lots of pictures, it was very much appreciated!
Kaija was outstanding. Jamocha loved her from the first moment he saw her. She sent me tons of pictures and it was clear that she loved him and took care of him like I do. :)

Safety, trust & environment
Your pup's safety depends on me being able to earn and maintain their trust so that they will follow my lead in any situation. In order to do that, I need to make them feel safe from the very beginning. The more information you give me up front (e.g., your dog's diet, their social approach with humans, other dogs, and animals; phone numbers for you and their vet in case of emergency, their daily schedule, health and activity, etc.), the easier it will be for me to keep them - and your home - safe, secure, serene and clean! Please do not introduce your pup to me if a shock collar is incorporated into their obedience regimen, even if the collar will not be needed with me; same goes for a pup who has been trained to attack humans. I hope you understand that past experience has dictated this request for the sake of keeping all people and animals involved safe.

Information Kaija D. would like to know about your pet
Pampering your pup requires proper preparation, including preferred processes, procedures and other pertinent info, such as: - Favorite toys - Leash and bags - Emergency info (Your number, the number of a back-up emergency contact, Vet name, phone, and preferably address) - Diet (e.g., can I give them organic turkey, cheese or healthy human food as a treat?) - Allergies, medications, sensitivity to certain brands - Specific hand or voice commands - Training needs. - Prior trauma, triggers, soothing skills Thanks!
A typical day
Unless your pup needs to stay in, we’ll be walking or playing outside, preferably by the beach or a nearby park. Having been born and raised in the South Bay, I know the streets like the back of my hand. If outside is not an option, I am happy to snuggle and play inside instead. :)
