"Patron Saint of Animals"

Pet care experience

2024 UPDATES : I offer doggie daycare again. I stay part-time in Midtown and part-time in Stone Mountain. I mostly do house-sitting but open to hosting for doggie daycare as well. I am only available for walks on weekends Saturday and Sunday. My WFH Schedule: Monday through Thursday 10:15am-7:15pm Friday 9:15am-6:15pm My job requires WIFI and a quiet work environment as I am in calls. I get (2) 15 minute breaks and 1 hour for lunch. Services/Rates: I am available for drop ins/walks/feedings in your home for your dog, cat, bird, fish, etc., or "housesitting" in your home with your pets while you are away for travel, emergencies, etc. I find this much more enjoyable for both the pets and I since it's less travel for me (I've also had the privilege of staying in some of the most beautiful homes in Atlanta) and it also seems to keep the pets happier and less stressed since they are in their normal environment. I have several excellent housesitting client references I am happy to share with anyone who would like them before hiring me. PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO CONTACT ME WITH ANY SPECIFIC NEEDS YOU MAY HAVE! PLEASE NOTE: I OFFER DISCOUNTED RATES FOR EXTENDED STAYS, AS WELL AS IN-HOME VISITS AND WALKS/FEEDINGS. So, please keep that in mind while reading my profile. My regular clients get a permanent discounted rate as well! About me: I've had animals all my life. I'm an animal lover to the extreme. My friends have affectionately named me the "Patron Saint of Animals" because I am always bringing home a rescued animal. Since moving to Atlanta in 2008, I've rescued and re-homed over 60 cats, 8 dogs, 6 ferrets and 1 hairless rat. My pets: Serena is a rescue I've had since October 2015 that became a foster failure! We think she is around 8 years old. Serena had some major surgeries in 2019 and 2020 for a herniated disc and a knee surgery, so I can no longer host large size dogs as that could pose a risk of her getting hurt while playing. Lola, a senior chihuahua I adopted in 2023. A tiny white baby Yoda looking puppy. She's too cute! These are my "forever" pets, they aren't going anywhere. All my animals are great with other animals, so there are no issues with them not liking newcomers. Foster/TNR/Rescue: I also do TNR and foster for DeKalb county animal shelter and Lifeline Animal Project so I occasionally have foster kittens in my home, also kept separate from the other animals. More about me: I've been "babysitting" animals on and off for my friends for free for years, so when I saw this website I thought I'd give it a shot. I lived in O4W/Midtown from 2011 til 2017. I relocated to Stone Mountain in June 2017 and now own a house with a fenced in yard! If this sounds like a good fit for you please send me a message! I WFH and my schedule is pretty flexible, so I can suit almost any schedule you might need/want. Any pet that enters this home is guaranteed to receive lots of love, attention, snuggles and kisses! Thank you for taking the time to read our profile! - Julie, Serena, & Lola About this sitter: Avid animal lover and rescuer, dubbed the "Patron Saint of Animals" by a close friend. I am more than happy to do a meet and greet before a stay. In fact, at this point I think it should be a requirement. I want the owner to make sure they are EXTREMELY comfortable with the idea of leaving their "child" in my care. I take my job and responsibilities very seriously. My Rover.com experience: Over-all, as a member of this site I've had good experiences. However, I had a VERY bad one (NOVEMBER 2013). The owner didn't seem concerned about meeting me before the stay and only spoke with me briefly via phone twice before leaving the country. She informed me the day she left that her dog had a MEDICAL CONDITION and how to treat it if it became an issue. I was very uncomfortable not being told this initially. I have no problems with caring for senior and special needs dogs but it's very important I'm told upfront so that we are both comfortable. I am only here to love and care for animals and I shouldn't have to be disrespected by anyone. I am a very kind, reliable, and respectful person. If you are someone who is difficult to please and jumps from sitter to sitter because you don't like paying through the site and you don't like doing a meet and greet because you don't have time or you don't really care to and then hold this against the sitter because you barely know them and that makes you feel uncomfortable or awkward please don't contact me. If you are a respectful person who loves your dog and treats the sitter with the same respect you want to receive then please message me. As you can see no names were mentioned here, I prefer to keep it classy. I've met some WONDERFUL pet owners through Rover and I look forward to dealing with you all again and thank you all for the excellent reviews everyone left for me! Sincerely - Julie How long have I been an animal lover: Since birth! I've had pets all my life. I started rescuing and re-homing animals at a very young age. My first memory of this was when I was less than 10 years old. My father and I were on our way to town and we saw a lady on the side of the road with a dog. Not thinking much of it we stopped at a gas station to fill up and as we pulled out that same lady hit the back of our car with her car. After doing the police report and dealing with car insurance my dad was too frustrated to go anywhere and decided to take us back home. On the way there I glanced at the spot the lady had been parked earlier with the dog and the dog was still there. I remember telling my dad the lady left the dog and my dad mumbled something nasty about the lady. I asked if we could go back and get the dog and my dad said no, that we had nowhere to keep the dog and he didn't want one. I started crying and begged him to go back and please help the dog and I was scared it would die. He gave in to my tears and turned around. She was filthy and underweight but very friendly. I named her Lucky and we took her home and scrubbed her down in the tub and it was one of my best memories from my childhood. My dad wouldn't let me keep Lucky but within a week we had found her a great home with a single mom and her son who gave her a great home with a fenced yard. That's how it all started and since then I've never stopped. I'd give my life for my pets, that's how dedicated I am to them. They are my children, my family, and the loves of my life. The unconditional love a pet offers is priceless. Rescuing animals is the life accomplishment I'm most proud of. What other pets I have: Foster kittens (kept separate from any clients, so if your pets don't like cats this won't be an issue). About my yard: Large, fenced-in and secure.

Julie is amazing! My pup came back happy and exhausted. I can tell she had a lot of fun because she was too tired to even eat her dinner! We can’t wait to play with Julie again!

We were out of town for 10 days, and Julie did a great job of looking after our cats while we were away. We'd gladly recommend her to anyone needing her services.

A typical day

Here's where you'll live/take your walks: They will have many potty breaks in the fenced in backyard. The pups love to play there also. Walks would be leashed around the neighborhood. I live in a cul-de-sac and the surrounding neighborhood is quiet and great for walks. We occasionally go for walks at Stone Mountain park. Serena had knee and back surgeries so she doesn't go on long walks or hiking anymore. If I host a younger dog with lots of energy, and the owner is comfortable, this is definitely an option! Your dog's sleeping arrangement: In my room, in my bed, or wherever they are comfortable. Serena and Lola sleep in the living room. They will choose whatever they like. How much time I'll spend with your dog: All day, 24-7 care from me and their new playmates, Serena and Lola :)
