Lifelong pet enthusiast

Pet care experience

I have an established history caring for dogs and animals of all sorts. I have worked in professional pet care for the past few years and have looked after and walked dogs from Shih'tzu to Great Dane, administered medications (pill/injection), rescued a neighbor's sheepdog from a window-well of a house I was looking after, and have over-night watched four dogs at once. I am good at recognizing different personalities, and know that different approaches work for different dogs, and respect owners' wishes. I am cutting back on house sitting services in order to spend more time with my own pup, but am available for walks and drop in visits most weekday mornings (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) as well as all day on most weekends!

Julie always goes above and beyond when taking care of my three cats. They warm up to her quickly, which is rare.

I am very impressed with the professionalism and attention to Julie provided to my two little Papillion's yesterday. My little Papillion's loved her and I will be definitely using her for all my dog visits, walks and sittings in the future!!! Thank you Julie!

Julie was great! She checked in on my cats every day and even went the through extra effort of hunting them down in the barn to make sure they were okay. I highly recommend her!

We were blessed to have Julie stay with our dogs and horses for 10 days in September 2015. She came to the house to meet the dogs - 2 large doodles - and had an immediate rapport with our goldendoodle who usually barks and tries to terrorize (because he is a big chicken). Julie handled him beautifully. She also fed our two horses. She asked all of her questions up front and reconfirmed on some. She is organized and efficient and kind and trustworthy! I have known her through my church for many years and am so thankful that she helped us out, and am delighted to give her a wonderful reference!

Information Julie B. would like to know about your pet

Before sitting a dog, I need to know how they react to strangers, other dogs, and other animals (important to know for walking reasons - for example, if a dog goes crazy over rabbits, I'll avoid walking during twilight and early morning when the most rabbits are active). I like to know what their typical daily routine looks like, how much excercise they get, and how mopey they are when their family leaves (I've had an Australian Shepherd who cries and mopes for two days every time her mom leaves her - she has special anxiety medication she has to take). Additionally, I like to know what the extent of their training is, what commands they know, and how they react to thunderstorms and fireworks and the like. I do not have any breed preferences, but may turn down a request to walk a giant or muscular breed dog if they have poor leash manners. I am a small individual, and if I cannot mantain safety on a walk, I won't put your pup, others, or myself in that potentially dangerous situation.

A typical day

Depending on the dog and their abilities/preferences, I love to take dogs walking around the neighborhood, and around local green spaces and trails. I avoid off-leash dog parks unless that is an established part of a dog's normal routine. For senior or less-than-physically-sound dogs, I enjoy taking them for a leisurely stroll. I'm a big fan of fetch and tug-of-war, and especially love Frisbee, though I'm just as happy to cuddle with an old lapdog, and will run through any training or excercise routines that owners' specify.
