Your Dog's Favorite Sitter

Pet care experience

I've never met a dog who didn't like me. I'm available to walk, feed, play with, and care for your pup whenever they need attention. I'll keep up your rules when you're away. I don't give into begging if they have a strict limit on treats, but I'll see to it they have plenty of attention and petting. I'm also good with kids, cats, fish, and hermit crabs. I would offer to care for your pet in my home, but I have a cat who prefers the place to herself. I consider every dog in my life as family (despite my cat's disgust). Just ask Snickers, Anthony (Twee Twee), Badger, Abda, Mandy, Missy Monique, Ginger, Pepper, Sugar, Sweet Pea, Willy B, and all the others I've grown close to over the years. They all give me two paws up! My love for animals started early. I was the president and editor of a newsletter for a group in high school known as OSCAAR (Ouachita Students Concerned About Animal Rights). Part of my duties included collecting donations and seeing that they were delivered to the local dog shelter in Monroe, LA. I also made jewelry to sell for donations and organized events to raise awareness about pet care among the student body and local residents. If you want me to spend the night in your home to care for your pet, please let me know. I am happy to, if my circumstances allow at the time. But I will not assume it because I do not want to feel like I'm invading anyone's personal space. Also, if you wish for your dog to wear a bark collar, or choke collar, do not contact me. I respected an owner's wishes once because I had already agreed to the job prior to knowing about that. However, I do not believe in using such cruel methods. And I refuse to make that mistake twice. When we are coordinating the details of the stay, please let me know how long or how often you would like me to be with your dog and I can let you know if my schedule can accommodate your request. If you live far away, that adds to the time it takes to get back. Some only wish me to walk the dogs in the morning and evening. That means upwards of 12-14 hours between visits occasionally. I am flexible and will let you know if I can or can't be there as often as you need. While my hours change and are flexible, I am never available all day long for any one job. There will definitely be plenty of back and forth as my main job is as a nanny and I often walk dogs during the day. Don't hesitate to ask what my availability is for when you need me! I have dog-sat, house-sat, and babysat on numerous occasions for friends and acquaintances. I've cared for several types of pets. I've loved dogs my entire life. As a kid, I collected over 100 porcelain dogs from all over the country, studied dog encyclopedias, and watched and recorded tons of dog shows. I made it a point to know every dog in my neighborhood and get to know all of my friends' pets, not only by name, but each one's temperament, personalities, and preferences. Often times I even knew the brands of food and treats they ate and kinds of medication they took. I prefer handling medication given within food. However, if another method of administering medication is required, I'm willing to try so long as neither the dog nor I are in any danger (ie any risk of being bit). Please reach out to me if you'd like to set up a meet and greet! I can't wait to hear from you.

Julie was great for day sitting with our Jaxson. Jaxson was well taken care of during the day. We received pictures of Jaxson during the day, which we loved. When Julie was leaving, Jaxson ran to the door and didn't want her to leave.

Julie and Abigail were amazing. Our dogs love them and my wife and I would recommend their services to everyone. They stayed in our home, which was nice for the dogs and was clean when we got home. We will definitely use Julie and Abigail again!

Safety, trust & environment

For walks and drop in visits I check water bowls (and food as needed), walk or let out dogs, check on cats, etc. Whatever you need, that's what will be done. Depending on a dog's health, stamina, etc, I will take them on walks accordingly. Some only need 5 minutes outside and want or need to come right back in. Others need long walks throughout the neighborhood. Whether your dog is reactive or not, I handle them all the same. I avoid other animals and people at all cost that we may encounter while outdoors. I will cross streets, walk behind things or the opposite direction, whatever it takes to ensure your pet's safety and well-being both physically and mentally. If you like your pets to be socialized, that's great! They have the rest of their lives to do so under your supervision. My job in the few days or hours they're in my care is to ensure their safety. And because I work with numerous animals of all sorts and personalities, I take the safest route I know in handling all of them. If I'm staying overnight, I'll often close doors to extra rooms to avoid any hazards unknown to me that your pets might encounter. Much depends on the animals and your home, but that's my general default mode. I leave everything as I found it. Down to however the bedding on the guest bed was made, if I don't have other instructions (like removing bedding to be washed). I bring everything I need and touch nothing in your home unnecessarily without permission.

Information Julie A. would like to know about your pet

I prefer to know what things to avoid and what things he/she particularly likes. Does he/she know any commands or tricks? What is his/her routine? The area I'm most likely to be in is in close proximity to nightly fireworks from Disneyland and I understand some dogs, such as my buddy Abda, are frightened by them. Are there particular things such as fireworks taking place where he/she requires special attention during certain times of the day or night? As for breed preference, I have none. I only ask that if it's a very large breed, that it's trained well enough to not take me for the walk. I'm strong, but I'm not a body builder. If a St. Bernard got the notion to chase a car, I doubt I could change its mind.

A typical day

I'll spend however much time with your pup as they need. If your dog just requires two walks a day and fresh food and water, I'll spend extra time playing with him/her anyways. If he/she needs regular attention or somebody to keep him/her company overnight, I can be there. Not exactly 24/7, but my schedule is such that I can drop in on a regular basis throughout the day on weekends and some holidays. If he/she is frightened by the nightly fireworks, I'll be there before 9:25pm and stay till they are over and your pet is calm. Currently I'm completely self employed, however my work schedule adds up to 40 hours, M-F in Yorba Linda. I can drop off and pick up your dogs at a doggy daycare for during the work day if that works with your circumstances. Extra house-sitting services Absolutely. Plants, mail, newspaper, feeding fish, caring for other pets (such as cats), maintaining a pool (I used to own a pool, so I'm familiar with the routine), turning on and off lights, visiting at random times to keep a visible car in the driveway at odd hours, etc. Depending on circumstances at the time, I might even be able to stay overnight if preferred.

I work as a nanny currently M-F 8am-4:30pm. In the past, and likely in the future, my schedule has varied greatly and usually gives me far more flexibility. Under my current circumstances, however, I'm available for any time outside those work hours. I'm willing to stay over night and handle meals while your pet's usually walker stops by during the day or I can take them to doggy daycare before I go to work if they're accustomed to that with your work routine already. Eventually my nanny schedule will change again and will more likely mean greater availability to come and go more frequently during week days. Anyone who has known me prior to this phase in my life can attest to the fact that the wait for that shift and the service I usually provide with more availability is worth a little patience and flexibility in the mean time!
