Here for you:)

Pet care experience

Hello, my name is Julia and I was an active house, pet, and child sitter throughout college. I currently work as a dental assistant and will need to be in the office 4 days a week, but I am very flexible and can prioritize your (and your pet’s!) needs. I have been very lucky to meet lovely people and pets through this platform. I grew up on a farm before moving to Seattle so I have quite a bit of experience with a variety of pets. Growing up, I had: German Sheppards, cats, peacocks, cows, chickens, and a goldfish. Unfortunately, I currently live in a pet-free apartment in Seattle, but Rover is a fun alternative. (Like being the cool Aunt?) I am CPR/AED certified for humans, but not animals. I love running, walking, and swimming so I can do whatever your pet might need! Thank you for reading! I work Monday to Thursday from 7-4, but I can use my extended lunch break to stop in for potty breaks if necessary. I am truly very flexible and can work with your needs. I have been doing this for quite some time and I understand that a lot of trust comes with this platform. I am honored to be considered and would never offer less than your expectations for perfection.

Please save yourself the trouble and hire a different sitter that actually knows how to take care of a dog. I’ve used Rover since 2015 for Sailor and never had this happened before. With that being said let me begin with what happened while Julia “watched” Sailor: we left to the airport the night before and confirmed with Julia that it was okay for her to start once she got off work at 4 pm the following day. I had my neighbor stop by to walk him while Julia was at work in the morning. By 5:20 pm we got worried because Julia was still not there and my neighbor went to check on him again. Julia stated that she would be there in 10 mins around 5:22 pm, we didn’t get a text until 6:41 pm that she was finally there to give him dinner and walk him. She stated that he was out of control and didn’t want to take him on a long walk, oh and that he pooped and peed inside while he was alone. I immediately stepped out of the performance that I was at to call and let her know that it’s not a big deal that he had a accident and that it’s best to walk him in the back where there’s less people/dogs. Also that he is a dog that likes to push boundaries with new people and she can use the hardness to control him better. This call happened at 6:48 pm and by 7:08 pm she was texting me that she didn’t want to stay there with Sailor because he was barking too much and she didn’t feel comfortable. I’m confused at what point did she play with him or try to keep him entertained because I know Sailor gets mad if he’s ignored especially after a long day of being alone and only taken out for a short walk. Which is normal for all dogs when they are not being taken care of. She asked if she could come 3 times a day instead of staying. She was already gone by the time I confirmed and said she had left 5 mins prior to 7:41 pm. So she was there from 6:41 pm to 7:36 pm for the first day and she wonders why Sailor was uncontrollable when she didn’t do anything to tire him out. As for the next day after leaving Sailor since 7:36 pm, she text me at 7:41 am that she was on her way to him. So about 13 hours Sailor was left alone and she was surprised that he had another accident inside even though any dog person would know that’s too long to go without a potty break. Said that he’s not house trained, Sailor is a living creature and I don’t expect him to hold his bladder for over 8 hours. By 8:20 am she text me that she was overwhelmed and wanted to cancel even though there was 4 days left. She was gone by 8:59 am. My sweet neighbor took over and didn’t have any issues but said that Sailor was very angry once she got there from lack of attention and walks. My neighbor also has a hyper puppy that is learning how to walk on the leash and she had no issue walking both dogs together. This was her first time ever spending time alone with Sailor and when we got home he was tired out already from playing all weekend with her. Also I never received photos of Sailor from Julia to prove she was with him but I did hear him bark once in the background of the call. Quick recap on the actual time Julia spent with Sailor: Arrived at 6:41 pm on Thursday Left at 7:36 pm Thursday night Came back at 7:41 am Friday Left at 8:59 am Friday morning I’ve taken care of a dog that peed on me and all over the house from excitement everyday I was there and another dog that started chewing up the door and the living room couches because of her separation anxiety. I was definitely overwhelmed and cried everyday but I sucked it up and cleaned up the mess without stressing out the owners. So trust me when I say you can hire someone else on Rover that will treat your pets like their own.

Julia was great and we will definitely plan to book with her again! Very responsive, dependable and flexible as we needed to extend the stay a couple of times toward the end of the week. The dogs looked comfortable in the daily pictures Julia sent, and they were happy when we got home. =)
