Pet care experience
I’ve been in Kalamazoo for about 21 years now, and recently completed my bachelor’s in Zoology at MSU with specialization in conservation, education, and animal behavior. I’ve been pet sitting since ~age 11, often for multiple pets at a time, with varying degrees of needs for food, medication, and activity level. My favorite job so far was home to a golden retriever, elderly cat, guinea pig, corn snake, and a bearded dragon. I currently have 4 dogs and 3 cats total among my and my parents homes - coincidentally 2 of the cats are polydactyl :)

Thanks to Julia my family and I were able to go on vacay and feel confident and relaxed knowing she was there for all of them. Julia did not only come feed, potty break and cleanup after them, she really cared for them and spent time with them. Our animals have NEVER had anyone watch them besides family, so this was a huge thing for all of us. We walked in the house after midnight with all the fur babies very happy, which meant the world to us. Julia's communication with me while we were gone was super, little notes and pics. We had the best experience with Julia and will tell everyone about her. Thanks again Julia, you are amazing!!!!!

I’m okay playing ball or tug of war, going on short walks or long walks, administering medication as needed, and updating clients after each visit with a written note or picture if they wish. Whatever amount of ‘engagement’ is their norm, and eases your mind leaving them. I know pets are creatures of habit just like us, so I’m all about keeping your household running as close to normal as possible while you are away for the comfort of your fur babies. - how they deal with muddy paws coming back inside, how to handle the mailman, using the command words they are used to on walks or for crating. I do enjoy working with puppies, and pets who are behaviorally sensitive or challenging. Seeing scaredy cats or skittish dogs open up to me is one of my greatest joys! I believe proper expectations and communication are key to a trusting relationship between pet owner and pet sitter. Please let me know how I can help you and your furry family!

No breed preferences! Just any helpful general information, for example: --potential anxiety or other issues with a new person in the house while owner is away? --food sensitivity, ie are treats or food supplements or peanut butter okay? --any specific dislikes, like food aggression, paws being touched, sharing toys etc.
A typical day
I love a good romp and some zoomies! I’m willing to play hard and get dirty and then couch potato with your pets equally as hard. And of course send cute pics to their family as we go!

I do some work as a personal shopper as well but I truly enjoy spending time with other people’s animals. I can be pretty flexible!
