Experienced rescue worker

Pet care experience

Hey there, I’m Julia; I have three years of experience working as a lead at a rescue center and a lifetime experience rehabilitating fosters and wildlife. In my own home I’ve taken care of squirrels, possums, rats, snakes, fish, and of course cats and dogs. And with the rescue I’ve learned most “aggression” is reactive or fear based, so I have experience to help care for even the most skittish pups and cats. Let me know in advance of any special behavioral needs so I can assure your pets are as comfortable and happy as possible. I’m also able to administer subcutaneous fluids and/or medications as needed. I’d love to have the chance to meet and care for your babes :)

Safety, trust & environment

Care in your home is dependent on you and your pets’ needs. During the first visit I offer complimentary ten -fifteen minutes to let your pet/pets get acquainted with me and build trust. Foremost is that they feel comfortable and safe; so let me know if any reactivity issues so I can plan ahead for them 💚 (barrier reactive, food or resource guarding, fear of loud noises, general skittishness or triggers your pet may have.)

Information Julia M. would like to know about your pet

I make sure to have healthy treats with me when visiting, so please let me know if your pets have an dietary restrictions. I am happy to work around additional medical and/or behavioral needs your pet may have so long as you let me know in advance. (Oral, ocular, nasal, subcutaneous medications, reactivity, resource guarding, or triggers.) Their comfort is my priority. If your puppy has less then three dp’s; let me know so I can plan for extra indoor enrichment.

A typical day

For more energetic dogs, we’ll go for walks or a run; if you have an open area, or fenced in yard, I’ll usually take additional time to play fetch and run around with them. For older babies I generally take it slower and try to find areas they have more interesting things to sniff; though some older ones are just as wiley. And of course I always take a good minute to sit with them to catch up on hugs and kisses. If you’d like,(for an additional fee) I can take your pets to the park so they can have some new sights and smells. Or for work with reactive dogs we can discuss using correction(pet corrector, penny bottle, attention diversion) and reward (treats and pets of course) to work on their walking and socializing skills.
