Available, Loving Sitter/Walker

Pet care experience

Hi there! My name is Julia, and I am an experienced dog walker/sitter, and I also provide catsitting. I have been working for a dog walking company in the south end for the past year, and have received nothing but glowing reviews from both my bosses and owners on my handling of the dogs. I love every dog as if it were my own, and am attentive to each individual dog’s needs and behavioral habits. I have cared for pets from as young as 11 weeks old to as old as 13 years, have walked blind and/or deaf dogs, have dealt with all kinds of behavioral issues, have experience administering medications, am comfortable with a range of dog sizes, and have worked with countless different breeds. I am familiar with many different types of collars and harnesses, as well as seasonal gear like booties, coats, etc. For me, pet care isn’t just a way to make extra money - it’s a true passion, and by trusting me to take care of your fur baby, you’re doing just as much of a service to me as I am for you.

Julia is fantastic! Hachi loves her. She’s also very flexible and reliable. We’ve used Julia for months now and will always ask her first when we need someone for our pup :)

Julia’s great! Only been working with her for two weeks but she’s settling into Hachi’s habits and is very responsive.

Julia is extremely reliable, wonderful at communicating with a true focus to detail! A true animal lover. She has helped many of times with my two medium sized, strong (in body and will) pups with reliable care!

Safety, trust & environment

In my home, I have an up to date security system, and am in a two floor unit with plenty of space. I have toys, food, treats, brushes, leashes, and small water bowls (usually used by a Frenchie that occasionally visits, for size reference) available if it makes things more convenient. I live within walking distance of Jamaica Pond, which is where most walks would take place. Please note that my boyfriend and I are both musicians (drums, guitar, piano, vocals) so if your dog is skiddish about noise, it would be better for me to visit your home. In your home, I will be respectful of any rules you have set in place, will keep things clean, and be respectful of any neighbors as well.

Information Julia L. would like to know about your pet

I like to know if they get along with other dogs - that influences where I will walk them as some areas are more heavily populated with other owners/walkers than others. I also like to know any dietary restrictions, medications, or favorite treats/toys. General temperament is also very important for me to know, as well as how to deal with any behavioral issues - for example I walk a few very reactive dogs - for one of them, it’s easier to just keep walking when a dog/person approaches, for another it’s easier to get her to sit and comfort her before the perceived threat gets close.

A typical day

I like to find a spot that will be enjoyable for both of us and with lots of things for the dogs to look at and stay interested. For example, for a friend that lived in the Fenway area of Boston, I would always walk the dogs down the length of the Charles River Esplanade - the dogs loved looking at the ducks, sniffing at the grass, and there were enough changes of scenery to keep them interested and make the walk nice and long for them. Other places I would take them were the Fenway Victory Gardens and other local parks in the area. I will never turn down snuggle time for dogs who are on the cuddly side, and will always make time to play with their favorite toys and keep them entertained while at home.
