We will not be rebooking with Julia. Based on her reviews and meeting her in person, Julia was very nice, very responsive, and it appears our pets were fed and taken care of while we were away. However, when we arrived home from our trip, there was a strange truck in front of our home, missing a front tire. When we asked Julia about it, she said she wasn't sure, and there hadn't been a truck here while she was here. After speaking with our neighbor, he said he happened to see her earlier that morning, speaking with the guy who owned it. When we mentioned that to her, suddenly she remembered that it was her friend's truck, and he had stopped by to say hi to her. Our neighbor also told us that she brought a different friend with her to the house as well, which she didn't mention until we mentioned it to her. My husband and I are pretty reasonable people, and had she been honest with us from the beginning, I don't think we would have been as upset at all. But having her directly lie to us, after trusting her with our home, our animals and all of our personal belongings - it left a very bad taste in our mouths. The pets are fine, and that is truly what I care about the most. I'm sure everyone who has had a 5-star experience with Julia in the past is, in fact, being truthful, and that this was a one-time lapse in judgement. I haven't ever felt the need to get any sort of security camera or device as I've felt it is an invasion of privacy. But luckily, we have great neighbors who keep an eye out for us while we're gone. In the future, we'll be making a point to let our sitters know that strangers are not allowed in our home while we are gone, and I'm sure Julia will learn from this going forward, and continue to give great service to your animals. I'm sure she meant no harm, but I felt the need to be truthful for those of you looking for honest reviews.
