We hired Juan to sit our 13-week old puppy during the day at our home. Based on our experience, we will not hire him again. Here's why: - he was generally unenthusiastic and disengaged from the moment he came in, despite this being the first time he was meeting us and the puppy. - he was looking at or talking on his phone 90% of the time he was here, and passed up many many opportunities to engage with our puppy (we know this because we have a camera in the living room and reviewed footage. He was made aware of the camera when he came in). - he left our home and the puppy for 45 minutes to run an errand, despite telling us it would only take 15 minutes and me telling him that would have to be the maximum since our puppy has not been left alone before. Not a smart thing to do on the first day with new clients and a new puppy. We were unable to reach him during that time, which led to a lot of anxiety. - when I came back home and asked him where our puppy was, he didn't know. He was sitting on our couch looking at his phone, and said 'oh she's probably upstairs', apparently not comprehending that the reason most people hire sitters is to actually pay attention to their puppy and make sure they aren't getting into any dangerous situations. Leaving the puppy on a different level of the home (for any amount of time) definitely does not satisfy that requirement. In an effort to stay fair, here's what he did do adequately: - he fed her, took her out to potty, and might have played with her sparingly in the yard. - he was very communicative on the app while he was at home (expected, since he was on his phone for most of his stay). - my puppy was the most excited she ever was when I came back home, and played with me for the longest period of time I can remember. I'm chalking that up as a win. He might have had an off day with us, based on the fact that he's got otherwise positive reviews. But we can only comment on our experience and he was well off the mark for us, and not the standard of sitter we have come to expect from Rover.

I highly recommend Juan's service to anyone looking for a competent and caring dog-sitter. My dog is a handful.. and Juan took wonderful care of him. Thanks, Juan.
