Pet care experience

Hi! I'm JR and I am a dog walker, sitter and coach. If you are looking for someone to walk or run with your dogs, check-in for feedings and potty breaks or a coach to simply help tackle the basics, let's schedule a meet & greet with you and your pup today! Are you considering hiring a trainer to help your dog master the basics of leash walking, staying on cue and coming when called? Do you want to take your dog for walks or hire a dog walker but are worried they just aren't ready? Let me help you by scheduling a drop-in visit for a private consultation and even training sessions. Have a great day! -JR

JR, is an amazing dog sitter. Not only did he take awesome care of our high energy Kona Bear, he communicated often with pics, videos and updates to how she was adjusting to her new home for a week. Even accommodated and adjusted his schedule when our flight home was cancelled. Best Dog sitter we’ve ever had. Can’t Thank JR enough and we know Kona looks forward to her next visit. Thanks JR, Kona and the Beckley family.

Our puppy really seemed to enjoy her stay with JR. He listened attentively to information regarding her care and showed us his home. While we were away, he sent an update with photos and she looked happy and content. We would happily use his services again if in the area!

JR has watched our dog Winnie twice and both times have been great. He’s great about sending updates and we can tell he treats the dogs that stay with him as his own. He’s awesome!

Safety, trust & environment

Your peace of mind as well as your dog's safety and comfort are the most important aspect of the service I can provide. I have many, many years of caretaking experience with various breeds, ages and care requirements. Rest assured, I will take great care of your furball. We cover the necessary requirements for your specific booking at our meet & greet consultations beforehand. Information such as vet contacts, prior training, emergency contacts, etc are all essential. About equipment: Based on my experience as a longtime sitter/walker, I prefer using a no-pull harness for young pups, as opposed to a collar that they could potentially slip out of or that could cause pain if your dog pulls. A harness of any kind will work for dogs with some time under their belt as long as it is in good condition and the appropriate size. I do not use retractable leashes, this helps to avoid any potential tangling or injury. Lastly, under no circumstances will I consider the use of choke chains, pinch collars or any kind of shock collar.

Information Jr. L. would like to know about your pet

Does your dog like other dogs and how do they normally interact? i.e. Does your dog like small/big dogs, how do they react to loud sounds, sirens or cars driving down the street. Do they chase bunnies and squirrels? What commands does your pup know and have they had prior leash training? Knowing the answers to these and a handful of other questions before taking your dog on a walk make safety and preparation that much easier.

A typical day

Walks aren't simply opportunities for exercise but also promote confidence, enrichment and can be a great time to practice learned behaviors in new environments. Generally, we will keep our walks in the neighborhood but a trip to a nearby park can also be arranged for an additional fee.
