Great Place for Outdoor Dogs

Pet care experience

Hi, We can take care of your dog(s) while you're away if they like to have room to roam. My 20 year old daughter (UW Seattle college student) would be helping me care for your pet(s) which means two times the attention for your pet(s). Also, since we don't have a dog of our own, we can give that much more attention to yours. We would be happy to care for one or two dogs of the same owner, and we have a huge, completely fenced in back yard for your pet(s) to stay and play in. ** UPDATE February 2019 ** Trisha graduates from college in June 2019. She has a house of her own in a nearby suburb, which she shares with two dogs of her own. Trisha continues to work close to her childhood home and is a very frequent visitor. So although you may not see her at a pup drop off or pick up, she is behind the scenes and always ready to help with the Rover.com pups we have grown to love since March 2013. I have had pets all my life and love them! The last dog we had was a German Shepherd named Shadow who lost the use of her back legs due to a nerve disease. We bought her a doggie wheel chair, and with our assistance, we were able to extend her life happily with us for another year. We are dedicated to the care of your pet(s). They will thank you for letting us sit for you! We have a finished, carpeted, downstairs family room for your pet(s) to stay in as needed. We encourage owners to bring whatever they need from home that will help their pet(s) feel at home with us during their stay. Like others who have to work away from home, Joyce is a kitchen helper for the school district and is away from home to work 3- 5 hours in the afternoons. Rest assured though, your pet(s) will be safe and secure in our downstairs family room during these times. Does your dog(s) love to play fetch? That's great because we would love to throw balls for them and/or encourage play with other favorite toys they may have. If your pet(s) would rather not play fetch, that is totally okay too! We also can take them on walks once or twice a day since we live in a nice neighborhood for walking dogs. Your dog(s) will love it here! Depending upon your dog(s) size and indoor behavior, we could talk about the best way to put them to bed at night. If your pet(s) like to sleep in the same room as you, we can certainly make accommodations for that in our downstairs family room as we have a hide-a-bed sofa. PLEASE NOTE: Rover.com only charges for the actual NIGHTS stayed at a sitters house (NOT THE LAST DAY). We feel it is fair that if your pick up time will be after 4:00 pm on the last day, we will adjust the reservation request to reflect the cost of 1/2 the nightly cost. We allow owners to pick up their pet(s) up to 10:00 pm, otherwise it will need to be the next day after 8:00 am. If your loved pet(s) are completely house trained, have no marking or "accident" issues, and are able to cope with being alone for a few hours on school days; and the other information above sounds good to you, we encourage you to read our Reviews and consider contacting us. We also invite you to view some of our Past Stays Rover Reels to see other happy dogs we have hosted. We love all animals and respect how they feel and what they want. We love walking dogs and playing with them. Best of all, we just love the satisfaction both we and the animals we care for get from having one-on-one interaction and attention. WHY WE LOVE DOG SITTING: I have had dogs all of my life but sadly, our family had to say goodbye to our beloved German Shepherd who developed a nerve disease in her back legs later in her life. We purchased a doggie wheel chair for her, and with our assistance she continued her happy life with us for about a year. Eventually after loosing the use of her front legs as well, our family felt it was time to make that most difficult decision no owner wants to make. Shadow is now in doggie heaven and deeply missed, but her story is a great example of the dedication we have towards animals. MEET OUR PETS: We have two cats that rule our home, BUT they are kept away from the dog(s) we host. Our family room is easily closed off by a standard wood door so neither your, or our pets, risk being traumatized by each others presence. ABOUT OUR YARD: We have a two story house with a huge back yard which is fully fenced in. We also have a deck which can be accessed from the back yard using the steps. Your dog(s) can go up on the deck to see all the squirrels running around in the back yard or just to peak in to see what's happening in the upstairs. It is completely safe for your dog in our back yard and they will love it! We have one gate on the side of our house which is locked with a padlock the entire time we are hosting a dog(s). Our yard is almost completely grass except a few barked areas and a garden. We also have a small patio near the house and a large deck. MY EXPERIENCE ADMINISTERING MEDICATION: If necessary we can administer medication. Of course it would be helpful if your pet is cooperative, but we have volunteered for a local cat shelter and occasionally had to administer medication to less receptive patients. So yes, we would be glad to administer medication to your pet(s), if necessary.

Can’t speak highly enough of the care Sam gets with Joyce. He can hardly wait to go play when we drop him off.

Joyce and Trisha took such good care of Misty. Every day they sent us the summary of the day and some pictures. When we know that Misty is in such good hands we feel at peace leaving her and can enjoy our vacation without worrying about her. They spent plenty of time to play with her. We highly recommend Joyce and Trisha. We definitely will contact them for our future needs.

I hate to post cause I don't want to share Trisha and Joyce, but they are wonderful caretakers for my senior pup Molly. She needs lots of affection and she gets it.

Information Joyce M. would like to know about your pet

We love all friendly, non-aggressive, non-drooling/slobbering (because of our carpeted area the dog(s) stay in) breeds of dogs. We have a special place in our hearts for German Shepherds of course due to our experience with Shadow, but we love all breeds. My daughter and I would like to meet you and your dog(s) before we commit to a sitting date, just to make sure everything is copacetic with everyone. In the initial contact with us we would appreciate it if you could describe the general character of your pet and their house habits.

A typical day

HERE'S WHERE WE WILL TAKE OUR WALKS: Around our neighborhood. We have a lot of side streets which are wide and not very busy. We also have Twin Ponds Park and Paramount Park close by. YOUR DOG(S) SLEEPING ARRANGEMENT: All dogs in our care are welcome to sleep in our downstairs family room as long as they are current on their flea treatments, and are flea free while in our care. You are welcome to bring whatever bedding your pet is used to. To help comfort your pet while settling in at our house, it might be helpful to provide something containing the scent of the owners for the pet to have near it. We have a hide-a-bed we can use in the family room if your pet is used to sleeping in the same room as you. Depending upon size and behavior, we can talk about whether or not providing a crate or other carrier for your pet to sleep in would be beneficial. TIME WE WILL SPEND WITH YOUR DOG(S): If your dog is staying at our house, we will treat him/her like a member of our family. During the school year, I work as a kitchen helper for the school district, so there may be times when your pet might be left alone in our downstairs family room for just a few hours.
