Precious PAWS - in reliable hands
Pet care experience
Hi, I'm Joy! I have taken in dogs overnight for over 35 years in my home. I have a very safe and secure house with an ample fenced-in backyard. It is not a problem to have a few extra dogs at the same time. My philosphy : I do not run a kennel nor do i desire too. a provide a personal home environment that is friendly, safe and comfortable. Just as if your dog is in their own home. I am an experienced dog walker. I have owned Golden Retrievers for 42 years. There is nothing I enjoy more than walking - I hit the pavement several times a day in any type of climate and weather conditions. With confidence and ease, I will enter any home environment to tend to all needs for all types of pets: dogs, small rodents, cats, and birds. I frequent nearby dog parks and exercise areas and am exposed to many dog breeds. I have dog sat every size breed, from small terriers to Newfoundlands and Great Pyrenees. I am a member of AS GOOD AS GOLD, the Golden Retriever rescue organization of Illinois. I am qualified for dog sitting, daily doggy care, and overnight stays. I also attend "meet and greets" with my own Goldens and perform home visits for potential adopting families. I currently own 2 Golden Retrievers: a 10 year-old female and a 6 -year-old male. I also own 3 sibbling 13-year-old cats. I suppose you could say that my main hobby has always been about the animals. They bring me such comfort and joy! Spending time with your pet will be a happy addition to my day.
Reviews
Joy is the best! She took a Gretzky to the Forest Preserve every day for a walk and sends multiple pictures daily. He came home happy and exhausted!
Joy was wonderful and I knew upon meeting her that she would treat our dog like her own. She took excellent care of our dog for her 4 day stay and sent us lots of photos showing us what a wonderful time they were having together. We can’t wait to book future stays with her!
Great place for my dog to play! Great yard, wonderful pet sitter!
Camp Joy is a happy, active, caring place where my Golden girl, Ms. Maddy loves to visit. If the weather is not "wet", trips to the forest preserve dog park allows Maddy to get wet to her heart's content. Swimming in the lake, chasing balls on the shore, running thru the fields, meeting new friends enriches her time at Camp Joy. On days that the weather is wet and perhaps a bit scary, there is huddling in the basement under the covers with resident Goldens, Ben & Quinn, and Joy, of course. She served as nurse Joy once after taking Maddy to the vet for a serious UTI when I was out of town. She treats Maddy as if she were her own pup in every way. Maddy is always happy to visit and enjoys her stay. I can leave town knowing that Maddy is living the good life at Camp Joy. And I get lots of photos verifying that fact! Camp Joy is awesome!

Information Joy G. would like to know about your pet
I enjoy all dog breeds, small to large. The main thing I would like to know about the dog is its social skills with other dogs - both during walks and in my home. How do they behave on leash walks (pulling, etc)? Do they ride in a car well? Would they be OK off a leash at a gated dog park facility? Do they have any food aggression?
A typical day
I have a nice fenced-in backyard. I like to spend a lot of time in it with the dogs, throwing the ball for them or just relaxing on the deck. I visit nearby dog parks daily or Open Lands for long, leisurely walks and swims with the dogs. I also take a 1-hour power walk daily with whatever dog is athletically able to walk briskly (leashed of course!) with me in the neighborhood.
