I Love Dogs

Pet care experience

What inspired me to become a pet sitter/walker is the love for dogs that I have. It gives me a opportunity to do something that I like and also help others at the same time. I love the fact that I can give back to my community and help dogs out all in the same activity. I always enjoy meeting new dogs and owners, so dog sitting really is a great experience for me all in all. My experience with dogs mostly comes from raising my own pups. I’ve been a dog owner my entire life, and I raised my current dogs from when they were puppies. That means that I have lots of experience with dogs of all ages, so everything from puppies to elderly dogs. Right now, I have a Boston Terrier/Border Collie mix who is as happy as can be, even though he’s lost some of his sight and hearing as he’s gotten older. With a few adjustments, he leads a wonderful canine life! I’ve also boarded dogs in the past while caring for friends’ and family’s dogs, which also included taking care of sick dogs. Although I’ll be the primary caregiver, I also live with my wife and daughter. My family grew up with dogs, and we are a very pet friendly family! My wife and daughter help out from time to time with the dogs, and always enjoy tending to their needs or when they want attention. We always love bringing new dogs into the family, so your pup will be right at home with us. During a stay, my number one goal is to follow the owner’s instructions to a T. I know how difficult it can be to be away from your best friend, so I’m here to make that time as easy as possible. I provide daily updates that detail how your pup’s done during the day, followed with pictures to document our fun times together. If any dogs have special needs, I make sure their needs are met and do all I can to go above and beyond for them. If your pups have certain schedules or activities that need to be done, we will certainly make that a priority. I live in a Bungalow House in Forest Glen, Chicago. I have a nice fenced-in, camera monitored yard that is perfect for getting some outside time in or playing some fetch during the day. My neighborhood is quiet and very pet-friendly. There’s a good chance that we’ll meet some new friends along the way! I also love that there is a park around the corner as well, because it’s a great place to head to if we want to get some exercise in or meet some new friends.

Jovannie and his family are the best! They keep my pup Baxter safe and offer plenty of fun throughout the day. He’s on our permanent list for daycare fun.

Jovannie and his wife are attentive and caring. Baxter is treated well and comes home pooped! Pictures and updates are sent often throughout the day.

Jovannie and Alicia are very patient with our shy dog. It was really sweet to get a picture of him relaxing!

Information Jovannie A. would like to know about your pet

Some things I like to learn ahead of time: Would you like to schedule a meet-and-greet before the stay? What’s your preferred method of communication? Does your pup have any health issues that need to be tended to? For instance, dietary restrictions, medicine, or behavior triggers? Do you have a vet nearby that you trust? Is your dog spayed/neutered? Does your pup like to stick to a given schedule, like regular walks in the morning and evening? What does your pup do well around? What does your pup try to avoid? What’s the best way to spoil your pup?

A typical day

When taking on a new pup, I like to see what their normal, daily routine is first. Each dog has their own personality and things they like to do. If there isn't a set agenda for them, there are plenty of things to have fun with around town! We could start out by going for some walks around the neighborhood before expanding out to the park and even the dog park. I have a large fenced-in yard, so we could always just stay local and enjoy my home. My dogs are also happy to give your pup some company as well! Most importantly, I’ll make sure your pooch is fed and watered at the proper times and has their potty times as well. My job is flexible and allows me to check in on pups as needed with a nice degree of allowance.
