I requested a sit for my two dogs from Joshua on Oct 16 - Oct 20, 22. I reached out to him on Oct 3rd, and he responded that he would be able to sit with my dogs at my apartment and we scheduled a meet & greet on Oct 4, 2022 at 1pm. I agreed to let him care for my dogs because he seemed like a nice young man. We exchanged personal numbers because I felt it was easier and quicker to connect this way.   I had to leave early on Sunday morning (Oct 16), so I told him I would just leave a key under my door mat so he would not have to meet me super early on a Sunday morning. I already took care of the dogs before I left, so I told josh that he did not have to be at my apartment until around noon – he got to the apartment around 12:15pm; not a big deal. I explained to him that he did not have to stay the entire time with them because I know people have other things to do and I did not want him to feel “stuck”. He said it was nice not leaving; again, no big deal - I bought groceries and told him he can sleep in my room - I wanted him to feel as comfortable as possible.     I did explain to Joshua that I had cameras set up (they are on the dogs, front door and over kitchen area out to living room only).   On Monday morning, I text Josh around 8:41 asking how the dogs were doing. He told me he took them out and fed them breakfast. I was perplexed because I put labels on their food bags, including their pictures, dates and timeframe (EVENING) of when they should be fed. He apologized for misreading the information. He continued to ask if he leaves them out of the crate when he leaves. I reminded him (again) that they should stay in their pen when / if he leaves and my older dog, Paddington needed to have a diaper on when leaving them - he is an older dog and he has separation anxiety. He will not anxiously pee if you are hanging out with him. Josh apologized again for the mix up. At this time I am frustrated because I felt like he was not paying attention to the instructions we talked about, and the instructions that I typed out.   At 10:45pm on Monday evening, I text Josh because my door camera notifications had only gone off twice (7:30am & 5:22pm) that my dogs had been taken out. I asked him how often he was taking them out. He told me once in the morning and once in the evening. I told him that I was concerned. He asked me how many times he should be taking them out, and said I was very unclear with my instructions. By this time, I am extremely frustrated, confused, upset and concerned about my dogs care and I let him know of my concerns. He continuously apologized and said he would take them out more frequently. He said they are going to the bathroom in my apartment late at night when he sleeps. My dogs are out all night with me and they never pee in my apartment. He just was not doing what I asked. If they were walked and taken out on a more frequent timeframe, they would not be peeing in my apartment.   I was trying to give him the benefit of doubt, so I thanked him and apologized for coming off harsh. I explained to him that I was a little stressed about having a ‘stranger’ (even from a dog sitting service) take care of my dogs.   Skipping to Tuesday evening at 9:22pm. I checked my cameras because at this point, I am more concerned. I saw Josh head out to my balcony (where he spent most of his time - WITHOUT my dogs). On the camera, I saw him walk out to the balcony with my brand new comforter off my bed. He had taken my candle lighter outside before, so I figured (assumed) he was smoking. I asked him about it and he said he did take my comforter out because it was cold. He told me he would not do it again.   On Wednesday, I checked my camera notifications and saw that my dogs were taken out at 6:57am, 1:10pm, and 5:28pm. These outside breaks are between 5-10 minutes (not enough for walks). At 6:01pm Josh took the dogs out to the balcony with him, and put them back inside at 6:02pm. At 6:11pm, my dog Piper was scratching at the balcony door. At 6:25pm I saw my dog Piper peeing on my floor by the dog camera. This was due to Josh’s neglect of my dog(s). I text Josh and let him know that Piper peed so I asked if he could clean it up. He said he cleaned it and he wasn’t sure why she peed as he was taking them out frequently.   Today, Thursday, October 20, 2022 is the day I fly home to be with my pets. I text Josh and asked him to take them out in the morning, leave for the day, and come back around 4pm to feed them and take them out one last time. I told him that I was extremely disappointed with his services (or lack thereof) and I would just prefer for him not to be there. He then proceeded to tell me that I have been rude and offensive to him and said that he would give me a negative review and disapprove me on Rover. He said he felt unsettled, so I asked him to just leave my key and stay gone - I no longer want him on my premises.  I asked my daughter to go and check on my dogs for the remainder of my absence. This is my first time using a service such as this, and it was because of recommendations from friends.   I hope and request that this young man never sits for another pet family. I was excited to use this service but now I’m deflated.

Joshua was able to respond quickly. He is very communicative and open and sent great pictures of our pets. Our 1 year old dog has separation anxiety and barks at new people but warmed up to Joshua immediately. We came home to really chill pets and a very spotlessly clean house.
