U.S. Army Military Police - K9 Unit
Pet care experience
I'm a big hearted lover of all animals. I have personally trained cats to roll over lol. I was with the U.S. Army as a Combat Military Police Officer with a K9 at my hip for upwards of a year and a half and cried when I had to pass him down to another unit. I have been around many types of dogs and know how most of them function mentally. Friends have always asked me to house sit when they are away because when we are having a "get together" I'm the guy in the back yard playing with your dogs instead of socializing. I am however a firm believer of obedience but can work with any animals level of obedience without a hitch. Will train for a bit more $. I do not believe in any physical punishment unless it is absolutely and unavoidably necessary. My methods of any kind of punishment toward a pet would have more of a mental impact and would give the pet more closely of an idea of what they did wrong or failed to do. Knowing when to praise for actions and obedience as well as scorning for bad actions and behaviors can quickly teach most dogs the best of manners. Being firm and consistent is another key. I love giving attention and most pets can't get enough of it so I feel I would be great with your pet(s).
Reviews
Josh was great with all my critters. I have a German Shepherd, lab/pit mix, and 2 cats. I could tell the moment he came over to meet them they were going to get along great. Not everyone understands GSD's, but Josh had worked with K-9's in the military so I knew he would 'get' her. I'm just sorry I can't adopt him into my family. :)

No preferences really. However I do steer away from the more aggressive breeds as they can be very unpredictable and MUCH harder to maintain control of, however, I can be firm and handle big breeds with ease. In my opinion, if you have had the pet since he was a pup then your golden. If not, then there is a small POSSIBILITY of a few personality traits that may develop, not necessarily bad, just different. If you have only had the dog for a while and he's middle aged or fully grown then you and the dog MAY not have acquainted yourselves enough for a full-on, respectful relationship. What initially needs to be established is that YOU are his owner and I'm a friend of the both of you. It can be a bit deceiving to a dog to pretend but handshakes, conversations, tones of voice, and choice of words are all your dog sees and hears. So euphoria is a must. Dogs also don't like teeth so no big smiles :)
A typical day
My animals usually lead the way, it is for their enjoyment. :) Rest assured.
