Peace of mind for your trip
Pet care experience
Keep your dog calm and relaxed by having me stay at your place. No need for an abrupt change in scenery nor routine. Please see my testimonial about staying with a family of dogs in the owners house. I try my best to leave your place the way I found it. I understand the sensitivity involved with a "relative" stranger staying your home. Please be assured that there will be no worries to be had. Staying in your home will help to maintain a routine the dogs are used to and ease any anxieties your dogs may have. About this sitter: I recently graduated with a terminal degree (5/17). I spend most of my day reading and writing so when I or your pet gets restless we can take off for a walk. As for watching other peoples dogs, I've stayed in an owners home for 5 weeks. The majority of my rover stays are over 5 days. I grew up with dogs and had one as an adult as well. Why I love dog sitting I enjoy the change in scenery and variety of breeds. The last few years I have been working on my degree has been the longest stretch without being around dogs on a regular basis (except rover). My folks had medium to large dogs growing up and as an adult I had a senior lab for the last few years of his life. Since 2012 I have watched over a professor’s special needs basset hounds in her home while she traveled. Please see my review. My experience administering medication I have experience with administering oral and topical medications. If inter-muscular medications are needed I would have little problem learning the correct method from you prior to your departure.
Reviews
Joseph does a great job walking Riggs who is a Rescue and does need to learn some manners with walking on a leash and reacting to other dogs and people. Joseph handles him very well and Riggs gets excited to see him for his walks. He even cleaned up some cookies I stupidly left out and Riggs got into one day! ? Joseph goes above and beyond!
We came home to a happy dog and a house that was at least as clean as we left it. Job well done. Joseph was great. Dependable and easy to work with.
Joseph was great. I have 2 high maintenance bulldogs and he was great and very comfortable with them. He spend a lot of time at the house and they were hardly left alone. Joseph was really easy going and made the whole process of traveling less stressful for me and the dogs. I would highly recommend him!
Joseph was the perfect choice for our dogs. He was gracious to accept our booking although it was for a short one night get away. Even so, our dogs were exercised and given lots of attention. He really managed them well as I have problems walking our larger lab and he behaved perfectly for Joseph. He may be the new dog whisperer for our house. :) We will not hesitate to seek out Joseph if we are in need of a dog sitter in the future.

Information Joseph N. would like to know about your pet
Please have the courtesy to reply back after your initial inquiry to address whether or not you found another sitter. I have no breed preferences. Other relevant information you may include would be your dog’s normal schedule of events throughout the day. I work hard to maintain that routine to the best of my ability. I believe that this reduces any stress that may take place. I know how to cook so special meals are not a concern. I do not have any breed preferences. Large dogs (>100) are generally not an issue. After the first year on Rover I have decided on a flat rate. Figuring all the variables for any particular job was becoming overwhelming with considerations. My minimum flat rate I believe, represents my level of seriousness and effort I put into each sitting job. Please note that I start day 1 on the day that I am responsible and include the day you return, not chronologically. For example, Jan 1st-Jan 7th is 7 days, not 6. Durations longer than 10 days are welcome so please inquire for availability. It is likely I will be available the day you leave to drive you to the airport so please inquire.
A typical day
Walks or no walks- These walks would be no less than 2 a day. During the cooler months I can take your experienced athletic dog along during my runs. I ran for years with my previous dog (black dog-cover photo) and had no problems. For those a bit slower, I have experience with g.a.t.e. (walking) assistance for seniors. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog can sleep where ever they please. If you have a pad for them it can go anywhere. If they prefer the couch, that's great too. Time I'll spend with your dog I spend most of my leisure time at home and the majority of my writing takes place at home as well. I run standard errands throughout the week but those can be rescheduled based on my sitting. I am very laid back and project a quiet calm that dogs seem to respond to. I often have clients claim a reduction in barking and excitability upon returning. For more dominant dogs, I do run the show. For super relaxed dogs, I basically let them do their thing and revel in their cuteness. Time I'll spend with your dog Quite a bit. I study and write most of the time. I do have a small truck but if you have an extra vehicle we can go to campus or a park. Extra house-sitting services I garden so I would be more than happy to attend to yours.
