Kids to play with! 7 years on Rover
Pet care experience
My wife and I will work as a team to care for your dog, and our kids will shower your pup with love and attention from the moment you drop him or her off until you can return! We do not have a dog of our own, so we love to meet new canine friends. My wife has 5 years experience working at a boarding kennel and grooming shop and knows many breeds very well. Growing up, her family raised several litters of AKC-registered Golden Retrievers. During our 7 years with Rover and 120+ dog stays, our kids (ages 8-20) have had lots of experience with many dog personalities, ages, and energy levels. They're really good at responding to dogs' cues for interaction and helping the dogs to feel right at home.

Our fenced yard means freedom to run and play off-leash (supervised) and we take all dogs on regular walks around our neighborhood or to the nearby park. Please let us know if your dog likes longer walks (1 mile+) and we'll try to get a long walk each day, weather permitting. Dogs will generally have the freedom to roam and relax with us in our main living area. We do have a spare dog crate in the rare instance that we need to be out of the house or a guest comes to visit us, but that is used only in the short term. Our home is non-smoking.

For the most successful stay, please let us know if your dog has any behavioral issues (chewing, anxiety, history of aggression, etc.), special medical needs, or is not house trained. We have watched dogs with such needs, but it is very helpful to know about them in advance of the stay.
A typical day
Our kids love the many dogs they get to see thanks to Rover! Each stay is a new chance to play and get to know a new pup or a familiar friend. From fetch to tug-o-war to relaxing on the couch, we find the level of activity (and snuggles!) that each dog wants and try to help them settle in for their stay.

Availability
At least one adult is home nearly all the time, plus one or more kids depending on school and activity schedules. If we are all away, it's rarely for more than an hour. We're very flexible with drop-off and pick-up times, even late at night, so let us know what works best for you and we'll try to accommodate. Our youngest two kids spend the most time loving on the dogs we watch, and our oldest two kids are often away at college. In general, we cannot accept weekly recurring boarding requests, such as a stay that repeats every Monday and Tuesday.
